Mafia documentaries
Last night I was watching Mobsters the television show and even though I enjoy it, was wondering. Apparently people like these kinds of shows or they wouldn’t be on all the time but all of them are about the same people and the same time periods. Can’t they make some new shows about some more modern organized crime figures. I know more about Gotti and The Chin than they ever knew about themselves.

Re: Mafia documentaries
My favorite part is how they give 100% of the credit for one event to multiple people. The 1931-32 time period is a beauty on these shows. Every single guy in the time period was Luciano's number 1 guy and together they created the 'modern mob' or 'national crime.
I get it....first rule of fight club.

I remember watching recently on tv the Mad Dog Sullivan episode while falling asleep, and he talks about on how he shot Caponigro...i remember that other guys did the killing but still, was Sullivan ever involved or even convicted about it, or he simply lied?

Re: Mafia documentaries
Yes they exaggerate a little on that, but almost all the docs on the mafia do it. The thing that annoys me about these docs are the theories on the assassination of JFK and the so-called implication of Marcello, Trafficante, etc ... Despite this I find the series rather well made to compare others (The mafia's Greatest Hits & The Making Of the mob are awful in my opinion). Personally my favorite doc series is Crime Inc .. On the other hand, part 7 is so gory that I have never been able to finish it. It is easily findable on youtubeDPG wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 7:25 am My favorite part is how they give 100% of the credit for one event to multiple people. Re: Mafia documentaries
Agreed, nothing has come close to crime inc and nothing will.
Re: Mafia documentaries
He made up everything, but without ratting on anyone he did things with or didn't do things with. He had to consider it a bit of a joke, but mostly a way to make money off people wanting to buy anything mob related. He was a real tough guy and I think respected it prison. Frank Sheerhan did the same with his bookVillain wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 7:49 am I remember watching recently on tv the Mad Dog Sullivan episode while falling asleep, and he talks about on how he shot Caponigro...i remember that other guys did the killing but still, was Sullivan ever involved or even convicted about it, or he simply lied?

Re: Mafia documentaries
I agree, Crime Inc is the best documentary on LCN, but I like too Inside the American Mob and Allied to the Mafia.
