Harold Benrow aka Benson

Post by bert »

He was a big Jewish wiseguy in the era of 1950=1973, was active mostly in midtown Manhattan. Shylocking and moving jewelry was his thing, the only write up I could find on him is Life Magazine, in their article on Joe Namath and his nightclub he was forced to give up.

Does anyone else know anything about him? I know he had a partner named Herbie, which is not much to go on. I think Herbie died in prison.

Do you mean Harry ”Bernow”?...... I think you spelt it backwards! He was an old-time Jewish hoodlum. Around a lot of the old Jewish set downtown, garment district etc
