Ralph DeSimone
Anyone know the full story behind DeSimone? All I know is that he was whacked by the westside out of suspicion of being an informant and that barney bellomo got acquitted of the hit. What convinced the westside that he was an informant and did the feds ever identify the shooters/drivers/ clean up guys etc involved in the hit?

Isnt his name coppola?
Re: Ralph DeSimone
In D'Arco's book, he says he was with Anthony Barrata, when a list for proposed members of the Genovese was being passed around. Barrata saw the list and said he DeSimone was a informant. D'Arco then states that at a meeting with Bellomo, I believe they where both the acting bosses or something along those lines at the time. He told Bellomo what he heard and Bellomo said he'd take care of it and they found the guy in his trunk at the airport.slimshady_007 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 5:09 pm Anyone know the full story behind DeSimone? Re: Ralph DeSimone
There is also a Ralph Coppola murder, that happened in the late 90's, Bellomo was charged with ordering that hit, but the evidence was Shakey and he was in jail at the time it happened. The DeSimone murder was in the early 90's.

Re: Ralph DeSimone
its weird that the Genovese got to the point in the vetting and associate process of bringing the guy along, all the way up until he was about to get made, and a random guy from another family had to point out he was a (possible) rat.
So the guy was doing dirt and crimes and was around made guys in the most secretive and disciplined crime family in NYC, for years, yet a member of another family was the one who brought to light the guy being an informant? and they immediately killed the guy; all those years of being an associate were washed away on someone else's suspicion?
it was briefly mentione in the D'Arco book, but Al said the guy's body was found at LGA long term parking immediately after Baratta told the Genovese what he thought.
it sounds very sketchy
anyway I think Jimmy Ida was involved. not 100% sure if Bellomo got tied up with this one but it could be so. from what I remember it was Ida who the "rat" message was passed along to, and this got tacked onto Ida's charges along with the DiLorenzo hit and one other hit.
it seems like D'Arco and Ida were the primary conduits between the Lucchese and Genovese families at that time, especially involving things that needed to be passed to their Administrations, and things involving the downtown crew shit
D'Arco's book has some good stuff about the Genovese guys...he was around a lot of them just from being downtown most of his life... but I dont remember him having any direct dealings with Bellomo in the book. it sounds like he met up with Ida frequently, and Mickey Generoso as well. Ida sounded like a serious, serious guy

Re: Ralph DeSimone
I believe in the book he mentions he met with Bellomo. I think you are right on about the Genovese, killing one of there guys they brought in like that, sounds fishy, although the guy making the accusation was a pretty big guy. There's posts on this forum by people who seem to have real knowledge about things, I only know what I read in the books but there have been posts, saying James Ida wouldn't have even looked twice at D'Arco and that D'Arco was full of alot of b.s.newera_212 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 8:47 pm its weird that the Genovese got to the point in the vetting and associate process of bringing the guy along, all the way up until he was about to get made, and a random guy from another family had to point out he was a (possible) rat.

Re: Ralph DeSimone
likewise. im in the same boat as you, and i remember posts on the boards over the years (specifically from one poster) saying the same thing - D'Arco embellished a lot of shit, and Ida thought he was a jerkoff. I value and believe that poster, always enjoyed his posts... but it'd be outright egregious for D'Arco to make up his dealings with Ida. Ida seemed like a big figure in the book and made it seem like they met a lot. Im sure Al exaggerates some things, its human nature, especially with these egotistical wiseguys and egotistical rats...but i dont know...itd be crazy if he just made all that shit upHeathen wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:04 pmI believe in the book he mentions he met with Bellomo. neither here nor there but I gotta say I enjoyed D'Arco's book more than just about any other book about LCN. him and Leonetti wrote the best post-Ratting books out IMO

they caught barney too for conspiracy but barney pleaded guilty to lesser charges, ultimately dropping the murder charge on desimone as well as on dilorenzo (idk if he was convicted for the dilorenzo murder). ida hated the guy for it as he took the full bid for. funny thing is mickey dimino was at that sitdown making a pistol of his hand when they were talking about taking care of desimoneslimshady_007 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 4:52 am The feds never caught anyone else on the hit besides Ida?

I remember reading that the westside inducted a couple of guys in 91. Maybe one of the people sponsored made their bones with the DeSimone hit.JesusMalverde wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 8:32 amthey caught barney too for conspiracy but barney pleaded guilty to lesser charges, ultimately dropping the murder charge on desimone as well as on dilorenzo (idk if he was convicted for the dilorenzo murder). ida hated the guy for it as he took the full bid for. funny thing is mickey dimino was at that sitdown making a pistol of his hand when they were talking about taking care of desimoneslimshady_007 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 4:52 am The feds never caught anyone else on the hit besides Ida?

Where does this come from that Tommy DeSimone was related to the DeSimones of LA? Was it in Pilleggi´s Wiseguy?SILENT PARTNERZ wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 10:17 am Anyone know is this Ralph DeSimone is related to Tommy DeSimone (Goodfellas/Vario crew)

On MafiaWiki, it says Tommy was a nephew of Frank DeSimone (the LA boss) and a grand son of Rosario, but that doesn´t seem to be correct. Rosario DeSimone had only two sons Frank and Joseph. And both of them were born in Pueblo, Colorado and lived their whole livs in California, it appears. Antiliar, do you know if Joesph (the son of Rosario and born around 1920) at one time moved to NY and later moved back?
Ralph DeSimone (the Genovese associate who was killed) hailed from East Harlem before he settled in NJ. Seems unlikely that he was related to Tommy DeSimone or by extension to the LA DrSimones. DeSimone is a very, very common Italian last name.
There you have it, never printed before.

Lawrence “Larry” Ricci

Salvatore Cetrullo
Peter Grecco
Anthony Russo
Anthony Volpe
but i don’t think the westside were making new more members after they’ve done some act of violence. instead of blue-collar mobsters they’d rather make guys that do white-collar crimes victimless or legitimate money
