Find something interesting, that Paul Vario was a Bonanno member before transferred to Lucchese

It's worth considering, but a few of us talked about this on here or the old board some years back. That informant (I believe it's Dara, Bonanno soldier) has a lot of interesting info but some of it tends to be off or worded confusingly. For example, he also talks about Mike Sabella joining up with the Lucchese family during the Bonanno war, but it is most likely that Sabella was simply under the protection of the Luccheses, which is a common practice during conflicts (i.e. Carmine Persico and others reported to Carlo Gambino and were under his protection for a time in the early 1960s).

According to Lucchese informant Carmine Taglialatella, he was sponsored by Vario into the Lucchese family in the late 1950s and at that time Vario was already functioning as an acting captain of the Curiale decina. Based on that timeline, Vario would have been with the Luccheses since at least the mid-1950s. Not sure how much info is out there on Vario and his associations before then, but would be cool to know more either way.

One thing of note is that the Varios were originally from Vita, Sicily, and almost all known members from Vita ended up with the Lucchese family, though the majority of them were in the NJ crew (which looks to have originally been a faction of the Newark family). There is one known Bonanno member from Vita and he is a possible relative of the Monacos of the Newark family, also from Vita. The Varios being from Vita and ending up with the Luccheses like their paesani could just be a coincidence, though it just as likely isn't given the way these families were shaped early on.

Check out Mary Ferrell s website and FBI.gov. Also the forum has a section solely dedicated to FBI files.
