Amedeo Indelicato

Post by felice »

does anyone ever heard of Amedeo Indelicato?

Italian turncoat Nino Calderone talks of him as a Gambino family soldier, he was the son of Catania family boss in the 50s, went to live to NY where he was made by the Gambino's. According to Calderone when he came back to meet his family he couldn't be introduced as made man to his father until Calogero Sinatra from Philadelphia visited them and could formally introduce each other as "stessa cosa" same thing. His father's name was Giuseppe.
I am pretty sure he may be related to the other Indelicato's both Bonanno and Gambino family. Amedeo was still alive in the 80s

Here is my post on him from the big Philly history thread:
Indelicato "Al" Amedeo, whose father Giuseppe Amedeo was a member of the Catania family, moved to the US where he was inducted into the Philly family (I'd be curious if Joe Ida made him or if he was one of the guys made with Monte/Narducci in that big Bruno ceremony). He moved back to Sicily later but couldn't be introduced to his father as amico nostra until Calogero Sinatra returned, as Sinatra had been introduced to him as a member in Philadelphia and was the only one who could make the introduction. If we connect this to the info I posted up above, we can assume Al Amedeo was in attendance at Sinatra's "introduction" party held by Bruno.

Beyond that little story I'd never heard of Al Amedeo in reference to Philly. It's strange really because he only seems to have been in the US for a relatively short time, got made, then returned to Sicily where he was presumably associated with Sicilian mafia members. Joe Ida was living over there at the time and apparently sent Angelo Bruno a request to start his own decina overseas... I'd be curious if he was thinking of including Amedeo in that or if Amedeo transferred to a Sicilian family.
As said in that post, I believe his first name is Indelicato and last name Amedeo, so he would not be related to the Indelicatos. Diego Gambetta cites Calderone in his "Codes of the Underworld" book, saying that Amedeo moved to Philadelphia where he was inducted into the local family. I have never seen him on any lists as a member or associate of Philly, though, so not completely sure what his story is in the US.

B., no way Indelicato is a name, Amedeo is the name. Yes I found it through Gambetta's notes. Actually I have all the Calderone's papers, about 400 pages, but most of them are hand written so I could have lost Indelicato's reference there. I have his book "uomini del disonore" and no mention of this Indelicato there

I was basing it off of this, but maybe he incorrectly listed the surname first. In the index it has Indelicato as the last name.

Yeah, Indelicato is his last name. In the index, it´s listed correctly.

I tried to find records of Amedeo Indelicato but can´t find any. Tried "Amadeo" and "Al" as well, but still no records. He must have died in Italy or he´s still alive.
There you have it, never printed before.

Same. I ran a report on the name and it came back as living at a specific address in queens. Date of birth 7/25/30. A lot of relatives listed. Wife listed as living at the address as well.

Hey B, can you elaborate on "Sinatra's "introduction" party held by Bruno."

-antonino calderone: the boss in 1962 giuseppe indelicato -> zu peppino indelicato
-peppino explained the rules «forbidden to do robberies» when they were going to make nino and others
-natale ercolano who was a robber shouted «stop, stop all, i don't agree and i will not join cosa nostra»
-peppino said «take it easy, be quiet, i explain to you later»
-amedeo indelicato is the son of zu peppino, giuseppe indelicato
-it seems amedeo indelicato is still alive age 90 years living in queens, ny
-amedeo indelicato aka amedeo albert indelicato and that's why he's aka «al»
-information can be seen in the book of pino arlacchi - english edition also has same info
