Mob hit methods question

Is the body inside a rolled up rug a classic mob hit method to dispose the person? Or is this more of a fictional book/tv thing?

One or two years ago they found a body in a rug near my place and it seems its easier for transport, meaning nobody will notice or see anything, except somebody carrying a big rolled up rug with his car or truck. Proof for that was the state of the body when they found it, meaning it was quite decomposed although it was thrown in a near thick forest
