Vinny Gorgeous has been to hell and back.

Vincent Basciano, the former boss of the Bonanno crime family, has bade farewell to the nation’s most secure prison in Colorado and been relocated to a federal penitentiary in eastern Kentucky.

Basciano spent an extraordinary 11 years in solitary confinement — under conditions usually reserved for terrorists — while awaiting trial in New York City on racketeering and murder charges, then later at the supermax prison in Florence, Colo., which has been described by a former warden as a “cleaner version of hell.”

Good for him. For those interested, Martin County is about two, maybe two and a half hours, east of Lexington. Sits right on the WV border.

Eastern Kentucky is one of the most poorest run down parts of the nation. Hazard and Harlan counties are straight almost 3rd world and the has the true definitions of rednecks living in them. There's a good doc called Harlan county USA that documented a 19 month long strike for the united mine workers. They workers actually kidnapped a coal company's president son and had many violent shoot outs with hired gun thugs from the company. My dad went down for 3 weeks in the early 70s to help with the strike. Said it was one of the most craziest places ever, and you wouldn't dare turn around in these peoples driveways bc they would more than likely shoot you.

Harlan county USA ---- I saw that. nearly the entire population is on welfare, disability or some other type gov asst. its the white ghetto in the mts. but there are plenty of other towns in wv that are similar. its not just minorities living off of the gov. down there they got generational white poverty. plenty of them,

Well I'm sure there's docs on Harlan county that are about this bc ghats what Harlan has became but Harlan county USA documents a coal miner strike in the early 70s ... At that time a lot of the people in the mining town didn't have running water homes it's always been an poverty striken place.
