Vito Genovese son
Anyone know if this is Vito and Anna Genovese's son? The dates match up. Vito and Anna were married in 1932 and she was already 6 months pregnant. I see a bit of resemblance too. Let me know what you think. https://www.johnedayfuneralhome.com/obi ... d=34101819
If this is out of line because they were a civilian (I think they were anyway) feel free to delete.

Re: Vito Genovese son
Yup, that was Vito’s son. As the obituary notes, a longtime accountant in NJ and a highly respected member of the community, active in the church and other social organizations.JakeTheSnake630 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 6:20 am Anyone know if this is Vito and Anna Genovese's son? Great find.
Re: Vito Genovese son
He's mentioned in FBI reports as Vito's son and described as an accountant. Nothing to suggest he was involved in actual mafia activity but being Vito's son he mingled with Genovese figures.
Vito's brother Carmine was made with the Genovese Family and business partner of the Ebolis. Only relative I'm aware of who was a mafia member.

Re: Vito Genovese son
geeze imagine being vito genovese kid lol. and he went on to be a normal highly respected citizen. even chins kids and all the bullshit about him shielding them. both sons got made and nephews....
Re: Vito Genovese son
Oh yeah, duh. Mike was of course a member as well. Carmine just came to mind because his membership is more obscure but there were sources who confirmed him as a member.Raven wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 11:17 amWas Vito’s brother Mike made?B. wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 10:18 am He's mentioned in FBI reports as Vito's son and described as an accountant. Re: Vito Genovese son
There's no mention of Vito or Anna named in the obit, so I assume maybe he wasn't proud or did not want the fathers judgement passed on to him. Not sure the status of Vito's daughter and step daughter.
If nobody sees it, it didn't happen.
Re: Vito Genovese son
I imagine they also wanted to avoid unwanted attention. Can understand a grieving family not wanting to broadcast "SON OF VITO GENOVESE" when their loved one dies as that's a whole different level of attention than the usual obscure obits guys like us discuss.
Re: Vito Genovese son
Jesus Christ. Vito Genovese’s son went on to be a police commissioner. Lol
Re: Vito Genovese son
One of Vito’s grandsons was on a podcast about Anna Genovese and her image as a mob queen. The grandson disputed it. It’s not the greatest podcast but it’s on Spotify and is interesting.

Vito Genovese and His Son Run Into Trouble in Freehold
March 26, 1950
Crime, Vito Genovese
Atlantic Highlands

On March 26, 1950, Philip Genovese, 18, son of Vito and Anna, driving his father’s car, crashed into a parked vehicle on Route 9 in Freehold, injuring five people. The initial newspaper report at the time erroneously stated that Vito was driving. The next day, March 27, 1950, Anna moved out of the Atlantic Highlands mansion with the kids, returned to Manhattan, and moved in with her mother. She would never call New Jersey home again.
On October 17, 1950, Anna filed a lawsuit in Freehold for divorce from Vito, alleging that he “deserted her” in 1948. She dropped the suit a few months later when Vito began paying her $200 per week, which he did from March 27 through December 15, 1950, but then stopped.
May 31, 1951: Philip Genovese’s auto accident case was ready for trial. Despite pleas from Asbury Park-based attorney Joseph F. Mattice that he had been retained only one day earlier to represent Philip Genovese, the judge sent the case to trial. Mattice read a statement that the company that insured the Genovese automobile recently had gone into liquidation, leaving its policy holders with no protection. Mattice said Vito had engaged the insurance company’s lawyers, but they decided not to appear in court, and so Mattice was asked to step in, but had not had time to prepare a defense. Mattice and Philip walked out of the courtroom, and the case was sent to the jury with no defense in court. A judgment for damages of $14,250 was handed down, which was later overturned on appeal for judicial mishandling of the trial.

Re: Vito Genovese son
In Alto Knights she was portrayed as a fiery woman who took no shit. Not sure how accurate that is, but it is accurate she took Vito to court which def took a lot of balls. I mean for any woman to take her husband to court back then was ballsy let alone that husband being Vito Genovese. I didn't mind Alto Knights, but I know I am kind of geek about this stuff, don't think the movie has a lot of mainstream appeal.

Re: Vito Genovese son
No doubt it took guts for her to do that. I imagine most mafia wives just keep their mouth shut and play their role as a housewife. Vito did have the guy who he had keeping an eye on her killed. Steve Francze I think his name was.JakeTheSnake630 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 6:58 amIn Alto Knights she was portrayed as a fiery woman who took no shit.
