Buffalo vs Bonanno

Post by Devertt »

So here’s my question -

If we are to believe that Joe Bonanno was actually kidnapped by Buffalo………once Joe reappeared and decided to go to war - who would have have that war?

I have a few theories. But I believe Buffalo would win that war - given the time period and circumstance.

Wondering what anybody else thinks?

Joe Bonanno was kidnapped by Buffalo! Stefano Magaddino was his cousin. That is why he survived the kidnapping. That's the proof!
There was a war! However, Buffalo was merely fighting by proxy. Once Joe Bonanno made his public return from hiding, he went to the mattresses and seriously started to fight. He seemed to be getting the best of it and no one seemed too keen to take him on. In the end though, both sides came under pressure from law enforcement and everything gradually ground into a stalemate and eventually ground to a halt.
Vincent Mangano - Peppino, but with you, we have to stop to look up things in books.
Peppino - True power comes from self control.
Khun Sa - There are no permanent allies or enemies, they change with the circumstances.

Hi Dan!
Just noticed you were a first-time poster. If I had seen that, I wouldn't have put in so many exclamation marks!
I had actually written a much longer reply, but couldn't post it, found I had been logged out, and when I logged in, found I had lost my post.
The Bananas War is a fascinating piece of mafia history!
It is covered by Joe Bonanno in his book 'A Man of Honour'. An earlier account is in 'Honor Thy Father' by Gay Talese which Bill Bonanno supplied information for. Bill Bonanno's own book 'The Last Testament of Bill Bonanno' also covers the subject.
Wading through these books, is something I have done a great deal of, trying to establish fact from fiction.
Oh, and welcome to board!
You are now part of this thing!

The Banana wars and Bonanno's exile to Arizona and attempts to get back into LCN would make for an interesting book.
