I can't imagine Gene not still being involved with the Gambinos. He did his time and had to be rewarded once he got out. Does anyone have any idea as to what he's up to nowadays? I always thought, at the very least, he would have been rewarded a Captains position.

I can imagine it. He spent 30 years in jail. Can you even imagine that? Imagine a guy who grew up and was a power in the mob in the 70s and 80s. And th n removed from society for three decades. Do you think he wants to deal with 2023 mob? Maybe he does, I don't know the guy, but I can certainly imagine him wanting to just retire in peace.

Nothing on him since he was released. Capeci reported around the time he was released from prison that he was in good standing with the Sicilian faction and there was an active role out there for him if he wants it.

Yeah that's not gonna happen...all the families were involved in dope dealing...the consequences of ignoring the "ban" was just enforced if you got caught and that was only sometimes, see Little Pete Tambone...Gotti is getting envelopes, he had a lot of juice on the street when he went away and throughout his incarceration...

Tambone was a big drug trafficker from the 1950s along with many members of the other families.
Castellano wanted him dead and in 1982 asked the Commission the ok to kill him but end in a deadlock so Tambone was shelved and Gotti in 1986 readmitted him into the family.
Tambone died in 2001.

I’m just saying, hard drugs are carry heavier sentences. Lots of reward for heavy risk. I wouldn’t have a clue what gene is or isn’t owed. Anything related to loansharking that people were looking after for him, fair enough. If I’m a soldier in the family now, aside from respect for doing his sentence I wouldn’t feel I owe someone anything who was raking in money for selling heroin in the 70s-80s.
