What I'm having a hard time understanding is the idea that Franzese wasn't a capable mobster when he was on the street......

It's kinda like Gotti told him at their sitdown, " You ain't gonna win this, go get whoever you want, your DAD CANT WIN THIS FOR YOU!". Or the sitdown with the bosses over the gas money, like, his dad didnt save him.
Couldnt save him.

His dad cant fight for him, cant earn for him, and if called upon, cant kill for him.

Second, yall are kinda funny, this is the family of nepotism, the Persicos? Didnt they get Corrallo and someone on wire discussing the merits of initiating their sons, and they said " the Colombos make ALL their sons.", or something like that?

I mean take a Tommy Gambino. If his last name ain't Gambino, and he doesnt marry Luchesses daughter, and Luchesse doesnt GIVE him the GARMENT CENTER AS A WEDDING GIFT !!! (FFS), hes probably a nobody in the life. All due respect to the man.

Sonny was either locked up or on restrictions for a lot of Micheals time on the street. I'm assuming others took over Sonnys rackets when he went inside? What did Michael inherit from the father exactly?

There were car dealerships, Union renovation jobs, security guard unions. Movies, the gas racket, sports books, point shaving and booking agencies, he wasnt a one trick pony.....

He didnt really kill many people, innocents or otherwise. No despicable shit like child prostitution or porn, or robbing regular folk.

I dont really get it, people seem to really hate him, must be the religion angle....

Amershire_Ed wrote: Fri Jul 03, 2020 5:08 pm American Gangster is 49% Frank Matthews, 49% Ike Atkinson, and 2% Frank Lucas. The idea that the mob was worried about Lucas eating into their profits is LOL funny. That movie also made Nicky Barnes look like a total sucker, and while he was an informant, he was a more successful and bigger drug dealer than Lucas.
Where did this come from?? Lol
Frank Lucas is a known liar and exaggerator. He exaggerated his relationship with Bumpy Johnson and his status in Bumpy’s organization. He lied about bringing heroin over from Vietnam (that was really Ike Atkinson). He lied about bumping heads with the mob. That was Frank Matthews. Lucas was a customer to someone like Frank Matthews or Louis Cirillo. He wasn’t competition. He made a lot of money and had several spots in Harlem and the Bronx, but he was nowhere near Matthews or the Italians, as the movie portrays.
But why this thread bud

Haha I couldn't lose one of the few that talks Montreal so you're safe
If I didn't have my case coming up, I would like to come back with you gentlemen when this is over with and really lay the law down what is going on in this country.....

MF says that alite reached out to him and MF basically was nice but told him hes not interested,so i think thats were the hate from alite comes from he wanted to be king of the rats but MF by far is the king of that world.Only sammy and massino would be in more demand for interviews than MF.MF has the credentials he was in time magazine and was a multimillionaire whos father was a heavy hitter. Alite no one ever heard of him before he started going online and mentioning the gottis.

Alite now says he had 30 cops working for him so he had more cops working for him than vic and gas.Alite is the new richard kuklinski even the people who Alite killed were nobodies.I honestly dont think gene was ever in the running to be made.I think Ronnie saw that he was retarded and can only shoot people on command so he was going to use him.Gene says that Ronnie was jealous of him    Yet gene lived with his grandma and Ronnie was building a 3 million dollar mansions with cash money

MF credits his success in the mob to his time as a car salesman. I reckon he was exposed to professional selling and marketing in a way that he would understand it and work to capitalize off of it. He's been quite skillful at branding himself and maintaining that brand for 10 plus years. I remember when Fox News had him on so he could say the Obama administration is doing "what we used to do." That requires connections and relationships that Alite and Borrello I don't think could develop or at least haven't developed yet.

I think they should just keep doing what they're doing. I agreed with many things they said about Franzese, it was long overdo. I enjoyed the Kenji interview.

Do you think Sonny was involved in the bank robberies? I remember a documentary that Michael said would prove that his father had no involvement with the scheme, even though he still hasn't said anything.

I thought it was pretty much confirmed he wasn’t involved but it was an ends justify the means thing. He didn’t do the robberies but he did all this other stuff we can’t convict him of

Antiliar wrote: Mon Jun 22, 2020 9:50 pm Franzese started his own YouTube channel on June 21. He also started up a pizza franchise. As for testifying and his Christian beliefs, I think he has said that he never testified against made guys, not that he never testified at all. He still preaches and sometimes ends his interviews giving his Christian testimony.
He didn't testify against made guys per se, but he violated omerta because he revealed the secrets of the organization, namely how LCN functioned with the agents.

I wish I knew more of the specifics of the case, but AFAIK, the general consensus was that Franzese was not guilty of running the bank robbery ring in the indictment, and that Hoover had a hard-on for him which is why he went down for it. Remember, the LCN was not at the forefront of Hoover’s investigations - bank robberies were, which potentially explains why he was “framed” for that crime in particular. The lack of evidence is what (IIRC) got him paroled so early (8 years into a 50 year sentence).

Correct me if I’m wrong on any of this, as I said before I don’t know the specifics of the case.
I don't know dick about dick.

Perhaps we shouldn't be ungrateful for what Franzese is doing. Don't forget that people's interests in a forum such as this is based on the general interest in this subject. MF is a great storyteller and salesman and he's becoming quite popular. If interest in this subject increases thanks to guys like him so is the change of new cinema. It wasn't so long ago that interest in the mob was at an all time low, but since last year we got the Irishman, Valuetainment and Vladtv interviews that have proven to be popular and now Netflix (which everyone and their brother is watching) making a seemingly high budget mob documentary.

Anyone wanna make a bet Netflix is going to produce a new mob show in the near future? I still feel like Donnie Brasco would be the best choice as it has a shitload of material and the story of a cop infiltrating a crime organization sells better to the general public than another Tony Soprano.

I have no problem with what he does. I just call out certain things that I, as a mob nerd, find discrepancies in. I started this thread because I was kinda in a state of disbelief- the guy's sitting down playing a mafia video game and giving his thoughts on it. Could anyone imagine such a thing going on even 10 years ago? How far away are we from an actual reality mob show? Don't think it can't happen.
