Re: "Patsy" (Donnie Brasco)
Guido was another who got written out of the film. In the book it is he who pulls the dashboard apart looking for the squeak, not Lefty. Nor was Lefty the proud owner of the fugazy.
After the beef, and the phonecall, and Donnie swinging at Frankie and Patsy, Donnie says that Guido, the toughest of them all, intervened, and said that settles it with Donnie.
The early stuff in the book, moving into Manhattan, hanging out in the bar to play backgammon, then hooking up with Jilly and the Colombos in Brooklyn, all this was fascinating, but just got squashed into the first few minutes of the film with Lefty.

Vincent Mangano - Peppino, but with you, we have to stop to look up things in books.
Peppino - True power comes from self control.
Khun Sa - There are no permanent allies or enemies, they change with the circumstances.

Not really replying to this quote - more replying to your name lol I wish I thought to use that pic.Lefty_Ruggiero wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 2:55 pm I think Lefty sort of sensed it too with that whole Rocky and Mirra situation. Lefty on wiretap said something like "Now between you and him, there's something wrong..." It seemed like he did not want to believe it. I know he was with the guy for a few years at that point, but still makes ya wonder.

If you don't think Joe Pistone wasn't drinking, smoking, gambling, screwing his girlfriend, and loving the life I've got a bridge to sell you. Book is good but a total whitewash.

100%. The whole “I was an FBI agent doing his job” narrative was a great sales job that is hard to buy. As you said, the guy lived with reckless abandon. He partied all over the country, wanted to get made, and enjoyed every minute. In recent interviews he’s more or less admitted that he was addicted to the life. I don’t blame him, especially in that period.

Again Maasino has no reason to lie about it.
Maybe HE has no reason to lie about it but the govt decides what he says on the stand....

Yeah because that makes a lot of sense.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

I think the discrepancy is Pistone is a senior citizen now. What made sense to him in the 80's has evolved in the 40+ years since.

First learn how to use the quote function. Second, yes your argument makes no sense. That the Feds will sit Massino down and tell him to lie on the stand about a meaningless anecdote from almost 30 years previous when it had zero bearing on the case he was testifying in, any case he was going to testify in in the future, any case the Feds broughtt against the Bonannos in the past or any case they would bring in the future is just silly.
