And that’s why one walks and the other is doing 25.
A mask had nothing to do with Nicodemo being caught. conviction. A postman got his plates which the cops easily traced.
The point was one took precautions and the other didn’t.

Nicodemo did the Johnny Gongs hit as clean as possible without leaving a single clue for the cops nine years earlier, I think it got to his head and was the reason why he was so sloppy with the DiPietro hit. I think it was a combination of him feeling invincible from the clean Gongs hit/beating jail with The Borgata case and him trusting that the neighborhood would keep quiet due to his reputation as a hitter with Philly LCN. Just my hunch...

Kinda ironic who's interviewing him considering he's supposedly a pedo.

He got lucky. You think as a precaution he would tell his driver not to drive his own car lmao

Regardless, it has to be one of the dumbest, poorest planned hit of all time.

I would hope it was spur of the moment because if that shit was planned then yikes.

I remember reading articles about the trial, the cameras the cops have set up showed them circling the block a few times and from their vantage point the coast was clear. You gotta remember, DiPietro was a snitch and had dirt on Nicodemo about the Gongs hit. The state was also building a drug and gambling case against Nicodemo at that time, he was a big fish. He had plenty of reason to get rid of DiPietro as soon as he could, the mailman being there was a bad break for him.

They couldn't have stalked the guy in a stolen car? Got a mutual acquaintance to set him up? Circling the block a few times and thinking the coast is clear in the middle of the day isnt due diligence imo

And if that stolen car is reported, then what? A second opportunity doesn't always come and that info would certainly have found its way back to DiPietro. Clipping this guy was a majority priority for Nicodemo. DiPietro knew he was a marked man and was trying to keep his head down, I doubt this was first time they had gone out looking to blast him.

I agree with Chucky , also think Nicodemo was feeling a bit invincible as well at the time after getting away with the Gongs hit and to a much lesser extent the Borgata case.

I think you're right about that. Nicodemo also avoided getting pinched with Ligambi and all those guys in 2011, and everybody assumed he would go down with them once the indictment dropped.

Also hard for me to believe that Nicodemo "planned it poorly" given that it was far from his first rodeo. I can't see a guy like him or Dom blowing DiPietro away in broad daylight unless they were absolutely sure.

Yes I guarantee Nicodemo got this hit approved and approval to use Dom for it as well. Nicodemo wouldn’t do something like this and use Grande without Admin approval, trust me. He probably got the approval to do it and do it quick because Gino was giving up information on Gongs hit.

At this point I believe Nicodemo was an Acting Capo as well with tons of money coming in from Coke, Real Estate,Shylock, sports betting (Borgata Bust was his book), and Card Games. Always heard he was a major earner and one of the most well respected younger guys at the time along with Canalichio.

I don't think they gave a shit, and by that point Nicodemo was one of the top guys regardless of rank. He was throwing his weight around all over the area and the guys at the top were happy with the money he was bringing them.

We will agree to disagree. Using a stolen car or a different vehicle than his own would have made it harder to run his plates and pull up straight to his house within a few minutes. Even using a different plate would have made it more difficult. Then having the gun under the seat? Seems pretty poor to me.

Nicodemo was arrested minutes later after a witness told police he saw a masked gunman jump into a waiting Honda Pilot which sped from the scene. A license tag led police to Nicodemo's door in the 3200 block of South 17th Street, a five-minute drive from the murder scene.

He was taken into custody that day and after obtaining a search warrant police found a .357 Smith&Wesson automatic under the driver's seat of the Honda which was parked behind his house. Assistant District Attorney Brian Zarallo said ballistics proved that the gun was the murder weapon.

Yeah, I have to agree. Using a car and plates that can't be traced back to the participants has been a criminal standard since automobile licensing was invented, I don't care if you're shooting someone or robbing a 7-11. They got complacent or a little sloppy here, for whatever reason. Cost him 25 years.
