Have them play sports, extra curricular activities, family get togethers etc. stop letting them run all over and be sacks of shit. I’m so tired of seeing it’s a disease! A 5 year old that can’t live because of cancer is disease. Doing heroin is a choice. Knock that stupid shit off.

Pretty much this. You have to make the choice to first try drugs. That is a character flaw. Not a disease. I have more sympathy for injured people who were prescribed legal pain drugs and got addicted (lied to be their doctors and the medical establishment). They were victimized. Less sympathy for those who got hooked on illegal drugs because they thought getting high would be fun, cool or fashionable.

I know some of you have a hard on for quoting sources.
"The American Medical Association (AMA) classified alcoholism as a disease in 1956 and included addiction as a disease in 1987."
"[Research and input from top addiction authorities, addiction medicine doctors, neuroscientists and experts from the National Institute on Drug Abuse agree in classifying addiction as a disease. Like other chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease...]"
Pogo and Gee I disagree with your opinion I feel like your casting judgement on something that you don't fully understand but I was in the military and part of the reason I served is so people can say w/e the f*ck they want. With that being said you guys don't know sh*t!

The ANA has long since been politicized. And yes some people are more predisposed to becoming addicts than others but in order to get addicted you first have to make the conscious choice to consume an illegal drug. And unlike diabetes or heart disease one can make the choice to simply stop using drugs or booze. As evidenced by countless people who have done so. You can't will away diabetes or heart disease but you can will yourself to stop using drugs.

If you were a little smarter you'd know how dumb you sound. Everyone knows that illegal drugs are addictive and generally harmful. Everyone knows damn well what will happen to you if you try heroin, crack or meth. Most people trust their doctors and the medications they prescribe. We now know that many doctors openly lied to their patients about these drugs and their addictive capabilities because they were being paid off by the drug companies. That is why I said I'm sympathietic to these people since they became addicted through no fault of their own and were victimized by their doctors and the drug companies.

And you can't comprehend that one can avoid becoming phyiscially addicted to opiates by NOT TAKING OPIATES in the first place. Funny I don't have any addiction to heroin, crack, meth, coke, pot, pills, etc. Hmmm could it be because I've never used them before? Nah that makes too much sense.

How about not drinking a bottle of vodka a day in the first place. Again too much sense for you to comprehend.

100% agree. I just recently got clean (just over a year ago) and it was a longgg 10 year battle for me and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go thru in my entire life. I’ve also lost 2 first cousins to addiction. When I got hooked I didn’t even know what an opiate was let alone the fact that I was going to be physically addict to it within a couple weeks. So by the time I tried to stop I was already in to deep. People tnag havnt been affected by it and that live sheltered lives tend to have the most to say about addiction. I’ve seen and I’m sure we’ve all seen what it can do to not only the person addicted but to the family and friends as well. I come from a great family had a great child hood but I just made that one mistake and it cost me 10 years of my life. But I’m in a better place then I’ve ever been right now and it’s honestly made me a stronger and better person. I get it when people talk shit and make fun of addicts but even tho some of you claim your smarter and would never put yourself in that position, I’d love to see you try to kick an opiate habit. That shit will take over every thought u have it will take over EVERYTHING in your life. That being said everyone is entitled to their own option. And to everyone on here who’s been affected by addiction personally or from a family member I wish you the best of luck and hope you make it out.
That’s the guy, Adriana. My Uncle Tony. The guy I’m going to hell for.

Drugs are a big problem but addiction to sugar / processed foods / preservatives is a far bigger problem in this country both physically and mentally IMO

Drs prescribe all these drugs for depression / pain etc when sleep , clean eating and regular exercise should be the first prescription every time IMO.

Not to mention technology in and of itself had isolated people. Porn addiction is another I keep seeing. We aren't making enough children now to replace the older generations.

True but it also connects people but I agree it has major negatives like everything else
Porn - agree but no comment outside of that lol
Yeah population growth is one of our biggest issues as it’s the main input for GDP growth but the USA solves that with immigration (legal and illegal ). We are addicted to their lower labor costs and I’m as guilty as anyone for hiring illegals. Same for me with oil tho I have cut out plastics. Can’t blame oil Co as they only service our consumerism. We are all full of crap when it comes to $, making or saving it lol
