My dad's cousin was the longtime owner, spent many nights in there in my early 20's. What a cesspool!

Didn't Frankie have a bar down the street from the Pines?

No I’m from Northeast pa and currently live in Florida. I did some time with Dickie but he didn’t talk about the streets much.

I'm sure when you were in that neighborhood you weren't lookin' for a beer and a sausage sandwich

I'll bet you went a little further up the street

Re: Allan May Hosts Lecture Series on Youngstown’s Infamous Jungle Inn
I only went to the Pines in my early 20s and late teens while I was home on college break or in the area for a birthday party. I wasn’t a regular by any means Plus I couldn’t get out of hand because of EB and Frankie, Frankie was there a lot and Joe Diorio and Tony Kelly worked the door. I got rowdy in there one night and I got a call from my father the next morning so I tended to pretty much stay away. We spent a lot of time in Akron/Kent/Cleveland in those days. But always made sure I went to your joint every time I came into town. Couldn’t resist the bar menu and the “stiff” pours.FriendofHenry wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 2:23 pmFrankie and his wife ran the joint.JCB1977 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 11:22 amIf he did I was never in itFriendofHenry wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:47 am Didn't Frankie have a bar down the street from the Pines?

Crazy. I wish I knew then... I do remember Frankie because he and my dad were friendly but I wouldn't have a clue as to who else was there. Do you guys happen to remember Zorba's in Akron?
