I think you confuse Dragna with Cohen. In the movie Bugsy has Dragna, then powerful boss of a mid sized mob family in its heyday, crawling on the floor making pig sounds. Absolutely ridiculous scene. For the rest the movie was pretty decent although it should have incorporated Bugsy's life before Vegas.

I think you confuse Dragna with Cohen. In the movie Bugsy has Dragna, then powerful boss of a mid sized mob family in its heyday, crawling on the floor making pig sounds. Absolutely ridiculous scene. anyways, they made it look like thats why bugsy went to LA. then bc Dragna stole he belittled him and pushed him aside and informed him he was going to work with Cohen.

Up through part of the 1960s you had a variety of people from around the country involved in Vegas before many of them sold out. Afterward it was usually the Midwest families having interests there until the mob was finally out of the casinos by the mid-1980s.

Anyone know why there was no major Gambino involvement - the era we are talking about 40's-70's they where a probably the 2nd most powerful family along with Chicago behind the Westside?

Would it possibly be because Lansky was more closely associated with the Genovese through Lucky & Alo??

Agreed. That scene was complete Hollywood (Hymiewood) bullshit by having the Jew Gangster (Siegel) order the Italian Boss of L.A. (Dragna) on his hands and knees. Another bullshit scene was having the Jew (Seigel) beat up the Italian (Adonis) because of an invented insult by Adonis. Barry Levinson was the Jew Director. LOL

Genovese Family was also allied with Chicago. They always had them as leverage on the Commission.

I made a mistake adding Samuel Mannarino from Pittsburgh, as his involvement was in Havana.

And, as we know, the early gangsters in Vegas were mostly Jewish.

So if you look at that list and what others added in later posts - with only a few exceptions like Marcello, Patriarca, and Gambino captain Frank Piccolo - the majority of the involvement was people from several Midwest families and from the Genovese family. It wouldn't surprise me if the Genovese's involvement was largely due to their strong ties to Jewish gangsters.

No, that was all New York money from my understanding in 1947.

We dont know that for sure, after all one of the guys who took over the Flamingo right after Sieges murder was Outfit associate Gus Greenbaum, so this means that the Chi crowd might've previously invested in the same joint
