The liberal system seems to be a huge part. Guys get a few years for things would be decades in the states.

From what I understand, while he could have balked at paying, he did pay his losses. Perhaps it was part of his image and not wanting to be seen as a deadbeat.

But I'm confused by this claim. what existed before? Was their certain roles in the American LCN different that the Sicilian LCN? how different did the American families operate pre-castellammarese war?
