It's understood that perhaps moreso than anything else, attrition has been the greatest reason for the decline of the mob, with the disappearance of Italian neighborhoods and the assimilation of Italians into the general population.

Does anyone know if there's a similar phenomenon in Canada, and if so, what does that look like in regards to the Italian mafia?

Are there full transcripts available of the bug the FBI had in Aniello Dellacroce's house? Thanks.

John Gotti owed large amounts of money to bookies when he was capo/boss, what would happen if he refused to pay? Who is gonna try to pressure a boss or capo to pay a debt? He could simply have them killed.

From what I understand, while he could have balked at paying, he did pay his losses. Perhaps it was part of his image and not wanting to be seen as a deadbeat.

in all the books, FBI sites, and documentaries iv seen, they Talk about how the mafia ranks/rules and families were created by marazano and later Luciano. But I'm confused by this claim. what existed before? Was their certain roles in the American LCN different that the Sicilian LCN? how different did the American families operate pre-castellammarese war?

The families, ranks and most of the rules existed decades before Maranzano and Luciano.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

When was the first time you used the term "crime family"? Was it after Valachi or was it already said?

Does anyone know why Greg Scarpa was demoted to soldier in 1964?
