Looking over old posts I see that Joseph "JoJo" Mamfredi was another one who bought his button.


Here is an old post that quotes information from Valachi. I do remember that Wahoo Msncuso was on JDs list of guys who bought their membership. The JoJo he mentions has to be a reference to Manfredi. Also wasn't it speculated that Patsy Conte also paid for his button? I don't remember if he was on JDs list.

Hey guys first time, long time. I don't usually have anything to add to the discussion but I do on this.

According to Joe Valachi testifying at the McClellan hearings, when the books opened around 1954, Frank Scalice and Albert Anastasia initiated a couple of hundred members and some of them were "commercialized" as Valachi puts it, paying $40,000 to become a member. According to him they were "kids there who was with Frank Luciano" one called JoJo.

Later on in his testimony, Valachi lists several members who were initiated by Scalice. These include Jimmy Squillante, Jerry Mancuso, Aniello "Wahoo" Mancuso, "ch*nk" Leo, Frank Rocci, Tony the Geep, Mike the Geep, Carmine Camarado, Jimmy Ward, Salvatore Bonfrisco, Jojo and Dudu. Valachi indicates they all paid $40,000 to become members. He also says that some paid with their business and then never saw their business again.

I can upload Valachi's testimony if anyone wants proof. I can't remember what website I downloaded it from.

Sedotto died young. He had a heart attack and signed himself out of the hospital "AMA" and died within a day. Was probably 1976-77 I believe.

Loscalzo was one of the guys who payed for his button.
Another guy rumored to have paid was John (Johnny Pie) DeMatteo.
There was another zip named Fortunato Cicciu who's name I didn't see.
Also a guy named Pietro, who was a bread baker and for all intents and purposes was inactive into the 70's and 80's. I don't remember the guy's last name, but he was a zip too. There are probably a few more.
For a while all of these guys were on the razors edge of whether they'd be whacked or not, but eventually they were allowed to remain, but largely didn't do all that much with their positions, Loscalzo being the most "active" and out in the open of all of them.

Fortunato lived 3 blocks from that club and frequented it pretty often. The baker Pietro was about 2 blocks from my house. The club that I'm talking about was Papa Dave's old place in the Bronx. I mean did I see receipts that said "One button-----50K", no. but it was pretty common knowledge in the neighborhood.

I can do the former, if people want the soldiers by NY borough I will need help with that. Brooklyn, Bronx etc or deeper like East Harlem or Bensonhurst would be interesting, if the knowledge exists.
