Just joking because I was reading the Buffalo thread, for months now. I'm kind of in the middle with that. I think it's what your definition of a viable family is. It looks like there is something going on there, but to what extent.cavita wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 12:54 pmAh gotcha. There are still guys around Rockford from the old days. I'm particularly interested in their time period from 1971 to the mid 1990s. Info on those years is very scarce and I was hoping this FBI sub file would open things up.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 12:38 pm
That was actually a big arguement on the old forums.![]()

Re: FBI File Frustrations
From what I understand there has been a move to slow down these requests and I question how much objective oversight there is in terms of fulfilling requests -- they could easily say an investigation is ongoing to nip a request and who is going to question it?
A list got leaked not long ago of the FBI's most "vexsome" FOIA requesters, meaning people who annoy them by requesting the most files. The language and nature of the list is a clear indication of how they feel about these requests.
I say keep at it if you can, brother. Something is bound to come through.

The Muckrack link is interesting, I can see how people asking for close to or over 100 files can be considered a nuisance, but requesting a dozen or less files should not be a problem. I clicked on the highlighted names of 2 of the people listed and wound up on their twitter site, which is not what I expected.

They have denied me, my personal file in its entirety. Almost every exception has been used in the statute through several requests and have also been "glomar" by the FBI.Stroccos wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 2:49 amI am still waiting for my own personal file. its been years. Re: FBI File Frustrations
At the same time, two years ago this month, I requested an LCN member's FBI file. He was active from the 1950s until his death in 1980, so there had better be none of this "compromising law enforcement investigation" or any of that shit.
Re: FBI File Frustrations
Chuck Nicoletti was killed in 1977 and that's exactly why they won't release his file.

Re: FBI File Frustrations
They claim it is still an active case. I think it has something to do with the JFK files being released. It may be one if the last holdouts in that regard.
Re: FBI File Frustrations
It sounded like they're planning an active prosecution, but I don't know who they would go after, after all these years. Maybe Vena, but by the time they get around to indictments he'll be dead.

Yes, the same thing happened to me when I clicked on the highlighted names about a week ago. I wonder why Muckrack directs you to that person's twitter site or facebook? Seems strange?bert wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 9:27 am The Muckrack link is interesting, I can see how people asking for close to or over 100 files can be considered a nuisance, but requesting a dozen or less files should not be a problem. Hey snakes can you PM me what to exactly state regarding appeals for future searches ? I FOIA requested files on Lufthansa suspect Angelo Sepe, it has been granted still waiting on files though, been like 9 months already.Snakes wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:44 pmI can help you out, check your PM.cavita wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:39 pmWhat's the proper route when filing an appeal? Just typing a letter saying, "Hey, these records are 30 years old, what ongoing investigation could it jeopardize?"
