Oh I think I hear a heartbeat from the Chicago Outfit. There is a murder from 2016 that LE is investigating that could be Outfit related.

I think after the last couple of years, the general consensus is that Buffalo is still an active family. I’d say there are maybe 11-12 families left in the states, with several smaller remnants, basically crew sized operations and semi hierarchical organization.

The general consensus = a few people on Internet forums. Curious which is the 12th family you are resurrecting now?

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Pogo I’m not going to respond to you, because I feel like your being condescending. And if you have a varying opinion, that’s fine, it’s a free country. I’m not trying to change your mind, wiseguys, or anyone else’s mind.

Perhaps if you were a little less quick to judgement there would be a little more room for discussion without people that have a different opinion feeing like they are some sort of UFO conspiracist.

Pogo does bring up a good question. If Detroit and Buffalo are the 10th and 11th families you recognise, what's the 12th?

Quick to judgement? You mean like taking a drug bust and a wiretapped conversation as proof a family is still functioning despite 20 years of crickets and the FBI saying otherwise?

I don’t have the energy to debate right now, my comment was merely meant for the poster of this thread. If you take this as a victory for yourself, great, enjoy.

To the point you make about the FBI, one quick comment. The FBI said the Buffalo family was dead in a March 2017 Buffalo News article. However, from Nov. 2017 forward their response to the new new information that started coming out after the Todaro family arrests in Canada has been, “We have no comment.” The most recently published being in the new article by Phil Fairbanks in the Buffalo News on April 19, 2019.

My question is this: If the FBI is still confident what they said in 2017 is still true, why not say that, or refer reporters to that comment?

IMHO the fact that they don’t stand by that comment says a lot without saying a thing.

I’m dying to know what the 12th family Moscone65 is referring to. Maybe he means Kansas City?

The Five Families, NJ, NE, Philly, Chicago is what's left. The Outfit on death watch since The Family Secrets and Sarno trials. Probably some activity in Detroit and Buffalo, but a far cry from fully functioning families. I know there was info about Buffalo coming out recently, but I would be extremely surprised if they managed to rebuild after being considered a defunct organization for more than a decade. In 20-30 years we might see only NY+NJ left standing.

Good Summary, that's pretty much it. It will end up being the New York 5 which will then eventually become the New York 2 (Genovese & Gambino) but that will be maybe 30-40 years from now and who knows what this Country will be like at that point.
