He says he's not connected to the mob but hired Gerald McMahon to represent him.
S.I. man acquitted of bid-rigging; denies mob allegation
Staten Island businessman says he had his world turned upside down after he was accused of being a Genovese mobster who rigged construction deals. “The smearing of my name — it destroyed my family and clients stayed away,” said Chris Chierchio, 50, of Annadale, in an interview with the Advance. “I’m 100 percent innocent,” said the father of three. “I just needed God on my side.”

Man. These feds have not done well as of late. It’s striking.
Yeah, seriously. Since Ligambi they’re gone from 90%+ success rate to sub 50% (I’m including favourable plea deals as failures). Ligambi, Merlino, Santoro, DiBello, roast beef (forget name), Rooster, this guy, the shit show that has been the Crea trial, Asaro’s first trial.
All ended in very sweet deals for the defendants or walks. Amazing.
There have always been favorable plea deals and the occasional acquittals though. We are just just noticing it more these days.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

I would disagree that the last 7-8 years of results mirror or are indicative of the standard.
I do not think it’s just us ‘noticing it more’.
My opinion.
It was the same in the 2000s. You had Joey Merlino being acquitted on the Federal threat case, him and his guys acquitted of all the murder and drug charges in th Rico case, Merlino being acquitted again in the Sodano murder case. You had Mickey DiLeonardo acquitted in the Atlanta case, Bonanno member Armando Rea in that murder case, Junior Gotti's 4 mistrials, etc
Same with the favorable plea deals. Barney Bellomo getting 1 year for a murder conspiracy. John Riggi getting 10 years for multiple murders and racketeering charges, bigwigs like Jack D'Amico, Louis Ricco, Sal LoCascio and several others getting deals of 2 years or less. Same with big players like Dom Cirillo, Larry Demtico, etc.
We are just noticing it more now because there are so few cases today that each case gets a lot more attention on the forums than it would have 15 years ago.
