Besides bein barney bellomo’s consigliere, what else is known about Peter DiChiara while he was on the streets? And also, has anyone here been to DiChiara’s social club recently? Is so,is it still active?
Wise men listen and laugh, while fools talk.
Re: Peter DiChiara
DiChiara was among 45 people, including the Chin, indicted back in 2001. The case included members or associates from all 5 NY families but mostly from the Genovese.slimshady_007 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 06, 2019 8:14 pm Besides bein barney bellomo’s consigliere, what else is known about Peter DiChiara while he was on the streets? More recently, in 2014, an investigation was underway into the involvement of DiChiara in the newspaper industry, including his connection to the Newspaper & Mail Delivery Union, no-show jobs, "bootlegging" stolen newspapers and magazines, kickbacks from non-union drivers, money laundering, etc.
All roads lead to New York.

It's a door way on the north side of kinkcerbocker village that would normally used as supply room or janitors closet I would think
Tons of guys used to go in and out but they kept the door closed quite a bit when I've jogged by

Re: Peter DiChiara
Weren't Carmine Russo and Chinatown Albanese in his crew? They were known as big time brokesters in the 1990s. Resorted to cashing bad checks for a few hundreds bucks and selling fireworks out of trunks on Mulberry Street. I think Ross Gangi was also in that crew. He used to have business at the Fish Market, right? He also avoided a hit, I think in the 90s, went away for awhile, and I believe is out on the street. The old rackets they had -- unions, fish market, newspaper payrolls -- are all gone. I find it odd that someone who, to the unwitting, ran such a lowly crew, yet somehow became a powerhouse guy, delivering messages for Barney. Who knows, maybe, like Barney, Petey has tons of legit businesses -- construction, building equipment, apartment buildings, plumbing, etc. That's just as valuable as some traditonal blue collar-crime rings these days. A reliable business that you can put people on payroll, use expense reports to fudge money, set up shells, have different business write-offs, communicate differently, even launder money (although then were not talking legit). Barney could never again commit an illegal act and still make more money than anyone posting here could even get their heads around. For as much as people say he's a gangster's gangster, he's also a businessman's businessman, and a family man's family man. Between Pelham, the Bronx, Ft. Lauderdale, and Miami, god knows how much property he owns. And his kids are all 100% legit and educated.
As for the clubhouse on Market. The clubhouse is small, even for Manhattan standards. There are two types of social clubs in New York City: Nice, big cafes with real coffee bars, glass windows, decent furniture, juke boxes, card tables, pinball machines, etc. They are actual social clubs, some with mob links, some without, and some with something in the middle. They appear as either reputable small businesses or neighborhood gathering spots for people from the same parts of other countries (there are tons of greek clubs in Queens). There are other places that barely leave a blip on the radar, and appear to be nothing more than a makeshift spot for only OC guys to check in. Petey's club falls under the latter. It can't be mistaken as an actual social club. They'd be better off just not putting the MEMBERS ONLY stamp on the door. Although, at this point, what does it hurt? it's not like the feds don't know it's there. As another poster said, it's about the size of a janitor's storage area. Maybe enough room for a table and stovetop for cooking. I'm not one of these guys who goes passing by every 3 weeks and hopes to find out what kind of cologne they're wearing, but I do know it's not high-quality, comfortable digs in there.
I knew of a place in the Bronx, a Luchese place, that was a lot like Petey's. It didn't try to strike the appearance of a social club, but it was nonetheless a meeting spot. It didn't have members only on the door. If you were passing by, it looked like the first floor window of a studio apartment. Nothing businesslike. If the door was open, you'd see a setup similar to Petey Red's place, but probably a bit bigger.
Then there are a few places I used to know, in recent history, in Queens (glendale, ridgewood) and Bronx (country club) that gave the appearance of actual cafes, or places where some old guys might watch soccer games or horse races. A few others in Brooklynwere somewhere in between -- kind of a business, but obviously not the place where someone could waltz in. Still, unmistakenly, not a residential place. Again, also not a storefront. Then there's just full-scale social clubs -- in Rockville Centre, western nassau county, all over queens, that are actual clubs for people who came from the same parts of italy. Italian social clubs do not always mean mobbed-up. But could some of them also have a small element of OC, or have been used by OC guys, even when not conducting crime? Maybe.
I know Petey was well-liked in that area, among the old families that stayed, keeping their rent controlled places. He was a fixture in that area. Someone else pointed out he had a son.

Members of the crew Pete DiChiara, Ross Gangi, Joe Zito, Sammy Aparo, Vincent Aparo, among others. I remember that article Russo and Albanese but I don't know how lowly the crew was as a whole. They may have not been the top crew in the family but over the years they were into a bunch of things- gambling, loansharking, companies at the Fulton Fish Market, pump and dump scams, the newspaper rackets, labor bribery and extortion of contractors, etc.sharpieone wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 1:17 pm Weren't Carmine Russo and Chinatown Albanese in his crew? True. But i doubt the west side would behave like that. Next time i visit the city i may get a picture of the social club and hopefully i see some familiar faces. At most, the wiseguys would tell me to fuck off.Stroccos wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 7:37 pmTell that to the Asian driver who cut off that jersey guyslimshady_007 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 5:44 pmId get a good look and even a picture. Re: Peter DiChiara
lol. sorry, i didnt even see your post mentioning jogging by, nor was i referencing that. i was merely just saying that sometimes people from out of town think these places are some type of sightseeing trips. like you said, they're little wood paneled places. i did not mean any ill will, and hope you didnt take it that way. If it was on my running route, i'd look in too. hell, running is boring, i look in at the same bars and delis i pass every run just to dream about stopping and eating -- see who's working, etc.JOJO wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 3:49 pm i dont stalk these ppl i just happen to running along the FDR which is less than 100 yards from this wood paneled little place. if i see the door open though i slow down and look in if the door is open. even by mob standards, these are very scary guys that hang out there
also, thanks to the other poster who pointed out some of the other rackets with this crew, and explaining how it was once a higher-earning group.
Re: Peter DiChiara
Jojo, if u don’t mind can u elaborate on how they are scary? Big guys? Just mean looking? Thanks.JOJO wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 3:49 pm i dont stalk these ppl i just happen to running along the FDR which is less than 100 yards from this wood paneled little place. if i see the door open though i slow down and look in if the door is open. even by mob standards, these are very scary guys that hang out there
Re: Peter DiChiara

These guys at Pete's place are all gigantic and look like they don't give a fuck

Re: Peter DiChiara
these are not old men. they all look like theyre in their 40s and 50s and just have that look. its hard to articulate. i leave the fdr and cross south street and run around knickerbocker then back to the river only if i see that the door is open. just sinister looking dudes that are packed into a sardine can. THERE IS ANOTHER CLUB ON THE WESTSIDE OF KNICKERBOCKER not sure if its active but it says social club
