Interesting details:
- Doesn't specifically say that Sicilian mafia leaders requested Antonino Inzerillo's murder, but that they sent word from several sources asking Paul Castellano if he was backing Inzerillo's actions in Sicily, which Castellano wasn't, and then he (Castellano) ordered the murder. This is limited to Gravano's info, though, so there is likely more he didn't know or didn't get 100% right.
- After capodecina Antonino Inzerillo's murder, the Gambino Sicilian crew didn't have a captain until John Gotti took over as boss and John Gambino was quickly promoted, at which point the former Inzerillo members were finally assigned to a new captain in John Gambino. However, John Gambino had been transferred to Jimmy Brown Failla's decina following Inzerillo's murder and later transferred to Tommy Bilotti's decina. The other Inzerillo soldiers weren't assigned to a captain despite being made members in NYC because of their potential ties to what was going on in Sicily;
this is interesting and is a good indication that John Gambino's loyalties were more in New York than Sicily.[/quote wrote:
Compelling.... My only question, at that point in time did he really have a choice?
