Did The Clown say NY wanted to take over Chicago?
Seems to me that Joe Lombardo said this to Spilotro's brother. Never heard anything more about it.

If I remember correctly, someone from the Bonannos (the name escapes me) went to Chicago and the brass were upset about it. I don't think it ever amounted to anything serious because it wasn't really talked about after that brief mention.

Donnie Brasco went there after the Milwaukee episode i believe
HANG IT UP NICKY. ITS TIME TO GO HOME.

Yes I believe you are correct. I remember reading that Bonanno member incident around the same time period as the Lombardo statement in the early to mid 2000,s. That would make sense that Lombardo was referring to that same incident. I just remember Lombardo saying that and there has never been any explanation. Maybe I just didnt remember that it was the same incident. From what I remember wasnt it a favor to the Bonanno member, that had family in Chicago. It sounds to me that DiFronzo or Marcello aporoved, but The Clown must of not liked it.

Vincent "Elmo" Amarante was the Bonanno member. If I remember right he ran a club or strip club in Chicago.

It seems that Chicago and the Bonannos had a long standing beef. They even had some sort of conflict in Arizona

Pogo would never say such a thing because there is nothing left in Chicago to take over.

Willy is joking.
They even went to war over Las Vegas back in the mid 1980s.

I think Lombardo was more pissed that he was allowed to just come in there and set up shop. These guys didn't even like it when other Outfit guys came into their territory so it's easy to understand why he was upset.
Re: Did The Clown say NY wanted to take over Chicago?
Yes, do you remember if he or the Bonanno's asked and received permission.
Re: Did The Clown say NY wanted to take over Chicago?
Yes that is the guy. I remember he ran a club. I just ran across his age and it appears he was young at that time. At the time I was thinking he was an older member that had family in Chicago. Without a big incident about it, I figured it must have been a favor. Yes there was bad blood between the Families, due to Joe Bonanno planting his flag all over the place. I believe Giancana was on the hit list of Bonanno's planned hit of Commission members. There is an incident with a cheese company in Chicago and Wisconsin of Bonanno being a partner or owner of. I'm interested about the war about Vegas you mentioned, was anyone killed? Also this Elmo guy must of had permission, because Chicago was still watching people in that time period, unless they thought it just wasn't worth the trouble.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 12:57 pm Vincent "Elmo" Amarante was the Bonanno member. I believe Pogo is jokingly referencing the terrible Bill Roemer book War of the Godfathers, which presented a fictionalized scenario in which Joe Bonanno goes to war with the Outfit over control of Vegas.Frank wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 3:43 pmYes that is the guy.
