Doubt it was Johns son he did have a son they called him Sonny but his real name was Eugene Castelle the same as Johns brother Boopsie but he's been dead I don't even remember exactly but 2 maybe 3 years ago it was some sad shit Sonny was in Rikers and was alleged to have taken someone else's methadone and ended up getting sick and dying im guessing overdose but it's definetely being investigated Rikers Island is a complete shithole there are a few articles about what happened definetely a sad story though
its a horrible , tragic story. yeah sure the kid obviously had problems, and he fucked up, but he didnt deserve to die in jail like a dog, over some bullshit.
he was in Florida either coming from or going to rehab. now, sketchy for-profit scam rehabs in South Florida is another long topic for another day; i also suspect there is some LCN involvement in the South Florida rehab scene, but I digress.
Anyway he fucked up in Florida and got caught with dope. Instead of charging him in Palm Beach or Dade or wherever the fuck he was, since the dope possession violated his release agreement in NYC, the NYPD decided to put money, time and resources to good use and fly a staten island detective all the way to florida, do a custody transfer, and fly the kid back and put him on Rikers Island. all over what stemmed from probably a couple grams of dope at the very most.
the kid being a junky naturally got sick in jail, and took someones methadone (or even dope) and died. there was something shady with the way Rikers handled the death, and wouldnt let the kids parents see the body or some shit. and now his mom is suing the city and she'll most likely win a settlement.
im gonna get on my soapbox for a second. suboxone and methadone cost next to nothing (to produce). besides diversion...which is a bullshit excuse because jails are already rife with drugs...i dont see one valid reason why maintenance meds are not given to people in jails. they used to be back in the day. not anymore. most knuckleheads in this country have some weird justice/revenge fetish when it comes to complete strangers, and a "fuck em, they're junkies, let em die" attitude. meanwhile the money these counties are paying out in settlements is totaling double digit millions, all because of kids like this who are dying while trying to not be sick, or life-long LEGAL methadone users getting locked up in county for child support or unpaid traffic tickets and dying from dehydration and neglect because of withdrawal.
its total bullshit. the kid was a junky but his death could have been prevented. Rikers fucked this one up. its ironic they have a big blank check ready for the sweetheart deal contractors who supply services to the jails and the new cameras and systems and shit like that, but cant rub two cents together when it comes to ensuring safety & health of the "customers" that make said sweetheart contract deals possible. more than half the people in County havent been convicted of anything... they are cooling their heels waiting to see a judge or waiting to post bond. no one should be going into jail for a weekend because of a bag of dope or a quality of life crime and coming home dead. not in the greatest country on earth anyway. thats some third world shit
anway rant over. sorry for posting Boopsie's email address. thought it was funny. also, Lovaglio sounds like a total peice of shit scumbag. makes me realize LCN is probably filled with guys like him; the image of the honorable neighborhood patriarch is bullshit... Lovaglio seems like a more realistic stereotype
newera, please make some room on your soapbox for me:
I agree 1000% that jails should give methadone or subox to
addicts. I've been locked up and dope sick at the same time.
It is hell. I can do time when not sick, no problem. But add
on top of all the other bullshit- not being able to sleep; walk;
eat; think and most important-protect one's self & you have
a recipe for some bad shit happening. I know a guy who did
not sleep for 6 months in jail. He had been taking 180mg of methadone
a day at a clinic. Gets a probation violation and has to wait 6
months to get in front of the judge because the system is so
backed up. He fell down a flight of stairs and was badly injured.
'Thanks for letting me share...'
yeah, its crazy. truely disgusting. im not saying give everyone the keys to the castle, but when someone is taking methadone on the outside and they get popped on a violation or fuckin unpaid tickets, theres no reason there shouldnt be meds available. they have medical intake, the meds cost nothing. methadone is one of the cheapest drugs in the entire world. personally i dont think its the most sustainable form of treatment or maintenance, but itw better than street dope and the lifestyle and crime that comes with street dope.
the prisoners would be healthy and much more compliant, and most importantly you'd avoid unncessary death, lawsuits and the reputation that you're running a fuckin snake pit instead of a correctional facility. this guy you know violated probation...stupid on his part... but why is it taking half a year to see a judge? after all was said and done how much time did he have left on his original sentence? he just get time served? meanwhile hes langushing for half a year while his entire life is on hold... probably lost his job, his family on the outside had to deal with it. he fucked up by violating, but that 6 months wasted could have literally ruined whatever life he built for himself. some people, hell...most people, cant bounce back from that and just end up stuck in the system in perpetuity. with a broken family at home and kids who run a greater risk of following the same path
its funny too because you cant even have the conversation without it getting political and polarizing. its not a political conversation. reform and a little bit of human decency would benefit ALL of society and most importantly save us collectively a lot of money in the long run. but knucklehead chuds think its "too soft" and you're giving "criminals" too many concessions. meanwhile a lot of these guys there are just regular people who made a couple bad decisions or got desperate. if a little more effort went into the whole system such as not having overzealous DAs prosecute bullshit, making cash bail cheaper, giving cheap easily accessible maintenance meds to addicts, not charging a zillion bucks for prisoners to call their families, a not perpetuating a culture of medieval torture, we would all be better off. but the average person conflates every weekend warrior in regular county jail with hardened psychopathic lifers in the pen, and everyone wants their justice and revenge.
im not saying we need to implement the Norway model at all, but theres something wrong when were the greatest country on earth, and we are doing third world tactics.. a guy goes in for a week for a bag of dope and dies before he can see a judge, or someone sits for an entire year because his family cant scrounge together bail and the backlog is too big, but ultimately gets the charge dropped when he sees the judge and comes home to his life in ruins.
i know someone who sat for five months on the SUSPICION of possession of a gun. a cop said he saw him with a gun outside of his building. found the gun in a garbage can. turns out it was someone else. but for five months he sat waiting for it to get rectified, during which his wife died in an accident and his kid had to go into child services. the wife wouldnt have even been in the car if he was home. the guy lost his job, his wife, and his childs life was uprooted, all for nothing
anyway i could yell all day about this, but to get back on topic, Castelluccis kids death was preventable and I hope Rikers and NYC pays a big settlement to the family. fuck em.
now can someone email Eugene and find out whats going on with the Luccheses in Brooklyn? ask him if his contemporaries like Conte and Galione are still active and if anyone from Brooklyn is in the current admin?
