Ed Scarpo has been wrong but he is genuine in his approach to organized crime. I haven't gotten the impression that he is out to embellish anything beyond being overeager to report on something before anyone else and it turns out to be false. Nobody's perfect. One thing about him, is his ability to connect with former members and debrief them. That Tony Urso story was priceless. Of course this is my opine, people are free to hold whatever opinion they want.

I disagree but I did enjoy some of his exclusive stories. However, his track record with “inside sources” is so bad that anytime he cites a source you can pretty much assume it’s guesswork. Again, I don’t know whether or not Donofrio is in charge of the Colombos but Scarpo’s track record leads me to believe that it’s pretty much guesswork on Scarpos part.

He has some good contacts, they just don't always appear to be accurate. And as someone who's interviewed people, they're not as encyclopedic as we are and prone to error... I'm not saying he shouldn't be held accountable, I just accept him for what he brings and discard what I feel is heresay. Salut.

Maybe you're right, Chris, and he does seem to have some street knowledge. Like when certain mobsters die, he often reports it before anybody else.
But he's gotta be flat-out lying when he says he's got multiple made members as sources. Scarpo has not provided any new "groundbreaking" information from his sources, and yet he'll have you believe he's got multiple made guys talking to him, whereas Jerry Capeci, who constantly has new, fresh, groundbreaking knowledge said himself that he's never had a made guy as a source. Go figure.
