Really enjoyed “Crime Inc” which aired in the 80s,Great interviews throughout

Crime Inc. above all else. It has great authenticity, especially considering it was so revealing about the mob back when it was still going strong. Love the creepy, dark intro with that early 80s tune. In one of its episodes they even showed footage of Gotti in action at the garment center before he rose to fame. Ofcourse the interviews with Jimmy Fratianno and the other CW's is what makes it so great.

The Canadian CBS made a very similar documentary called Connections a few years earlier of which there are fragments on Youtube.

NGC's documentary Inside the Mafia (2005) and its follow-up Inside the American Mafia and ofcourse the Underworld series are good additions too.

And the British The Mafia's greatest Hits which is more or less an unofficial sequel to Crime Inc.

Crime Inc, hands down..

Inside the American Mob from NatGeo I also liked very much. If somebody knew nothing about the American mob and wanted to know more about it by watching documentaries, then these 2 would be the best choices by far imo. Crime Inc covers the important stuff from the 20's to the beginning of the 80's and ITAM covers everything from the early 70's to the the 21st century..

Manhattan Mob Rampage and The Final Report editions (Mob on Trial + Getting John Gotti) also from National Geographic were very good too.

Crime Inc and Inside the American Mob are my favorites, but there are other cool ones that deserve highlights like Inside Chicago Mob Takedown and The Real Sopranos.

Al Profit & ScottB made a great Detroit doc.
Also, Blackhand Strawman about KC was good.
The recent one about Milwaukee was so so.
Pitt; Cleve; Bufalino; NOLA & Tampa docs need to be

I think that could've happened to any mobster and he was quite suspicious. But surely it was embarrasing.
