Agree that it has the ring of truth.
Or verisimilitude, as Sonny would say.

gohnjotti wrote: Mon Jul 30, 2018 2:07 pm It wasn't Andy Russo, it was Anthony Russo. Big difference. Andrew Russo was the family's aging street boss, and Anthony Russo was a violent, 40-something acting captain. But yes, they were definitely ready for violence. Anthony also griped that he was one of the only ones in the family willing to "go to war," which is something.
My bad, you are correct Gohn. Thanks for catching that. He also said he thought there was a rat real close to the Colombo’s and he would decapitate him when they found out who it was lol.

Interesting to note Anthony Russo was “admonished” by acting boss Andy Mush Russo for requesting a sit down and not retaliating first against the gambinos when a Colombo associate was stabbed. Anthony seemed like such a violent guy and cowboy, you’d think he would have acted violently first but since he didn’t, I think it shows how ruthless Andy Mush Russo really is.
So likely Anthony Russo was/is full of shit. That is , all talk.
The gambling club that Russo ran was actually owned by Paul Bevacqua, according to court documents. Russo lost $2000 that night in terms of lost revenue to the competing club, and when he found out that Gambino captain Joseph 'Sonny' Juliano was behind the competitor's club, Russo said: ""Is Sonny going to make up the $2000 I lost that night… I am going on a tear." Later that evening, Big Anthony met with Joseph Savarese (violent former Wimpy Boys crew member and soldier) and Giuseppe 'Pooch' DeStefano (a 30-something, young enforcer) at their favorite hangout, the Silhouette Lounge, and then went to a meeting that had been arranged by Colombo/Dennis DeLucia associate Louis 'Louie Ices' Venturelli with the rival competitor. It was there that the trio (Russo, Savarese, and DeStefano) beat the shit out of the guy and Savarese pulled a knife.

So it's not a case of Big Anthony being "all talk." Whether there was a legitimate threat of armed retaliation is up for debate, but he nevertheless prepared himself and ordered his men to "shit the shit out of them" once they entered.
I don't know dick about dick.

I also remember when he allegedly posted a photo of dead Demeo which in fact was a photo of dead Chicago member Charles English.

So my question is, do you guys really believe in his whole sniper/mob meeting story? I mean is it backed by some other source? Because if not, then....
I dont think he was honest or correct about everything but that doesn't necessarily mean he was lying about that. And it actually seens like something Gaggi would do. Things were tense at the time between the Castellano and Dellacroce factions. And it's not like Montiglio sat in on the meeting. He was just somebody close to Nino who he could use as as a shooter if things went bad. And I actually don't recall him ever saying Gotti was there.
at the 2:21 mark he mentions Gotti. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsfQZagYpcI

Interesting. Seems he can't help but embellish more and more. Like when he said the DeMeo crew killed between 500 and 700 people. He undercuts the core of his story, and its credibility, by doing that. Still, to not throw the baby out with the bathwater, I think the basic story he originally told about Nino having him sit upstairs with a rifle ready to shoot anyone who came out the door, if there was shooting downstairs, rings true.

Personally I think he’s full of shit. He wasn’t even made and he’s going to be the guy to clip Dellacroce if things went bad? I don’t think so.
Personally I think Montiglio's general story feels authentic. The meeting being at Nino's house and him having his former army nephew who he and Paul trusted at the time being ready to shoot Dellacroce and his guys if it all goes terribly wrong and they flee the house. I can see that. Him not being made yet doesn't seem like that big a deal when you consider what year it was and the long backlog of guys who weren't made at that time yet. I think his telling of the story has evolved over time though. Particularly who came with Dellacroce. I think it's evolved from he didn't know who the people were with Dellacroce to throwing in Gotti's name, and I think I saw one where Ruggiero was there and maybe Gene. So that I think has morphed over time.

Who was the guy he said was there that was the heroin addict? Tony Naps or something like that? Said he always looked like he was taking a nap or something along those lines.

As far as him not being made, IIRC, he said that was by his uncle's design. Believe he said Niño told him when you keep a guy down he stays loyal. Don't think that worked out to well for him.

Tony ‘Roach’ Rampino is who he was talking about.

I thought of another thing too. At the time of this meeting wouldn't Montiglio already have taken part in the Governera murder with DeMeo and Gaggi? Granted he didn't shoot, but he was there. Think that would have made him seem a trustworthy associate. As far as their skewed logic went.
