Re: Ralph Coppola
Good question (though probably better served in the General questions thread, than one of its own).
I’d like to hear of any info regarding Coppola.

They were reportedly close friends since they were young. Coppola was Barney's point man at the Javits Center and would become captain of their crew at one point. There's never been a lot of details but Coppola apparently was butting heads with a lot of people and ultimately both Barney (who was in prison at the time) and then acting boss Frank "Farby" Serpico gave the ok for his murder.slimshady_007 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 7:06 pm Anyone know when ralph coppola was made, his reputation, and his relationship with barney?

Re: Ralph Coppola
Read somewhere that ralph had skimmed profits which was the motivation for his murder. I dont think the feds ever got a conviction for the hit and unless anyone flips, i dont think they ever will.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 7:29 pmThey were reportedly close friends since they were young. Another reason was that he was raising a stink over not being named Acting Boss. As for his murder, Bellomo pled guilty to his murder conspiracy as part of his 2005 indictment.

Do not recall that he was angling for AB. Farby would have been the most powerful Genovese on the street when ralph was whacked I assume. Esp to hit a close friend of Barnies. That guy (Farby) has always interested me. Possibly the only guy more powerful than Barney after Chin.

Re: Ralph Coppola
I don't think he was more powerful than Barney, even with the latter being in prison. It always seemed to me Farby was just one of many guys from that crew (Barney's crew) that ended up being the acting boss for the family at one point or another.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 11:23 amYou’re a funny guy. Re: Ralph Coppola
He shows up on the Franceschini chart as a soldier. There are a number of inaccuracies and even some non-members on that chart, but it's an indication he may have been made back then. I believe that chart is circa late-1980s.

How long has Barney been out on the street as boss now?

He was allegedly complaining about being passed over for Serpico. I belive he was also alleged to have been skimming money. It was probably a combination of things tht led to him getting whacked.
He got out of prison in 2008. He has been Boss since about 2014.

I knew about the alleged skimming. Was unaware of the ‘passover over’ beef (was he Jewish? ).Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 11:51 am

Farby is still a fascinating figure. He must have held huge weight to still get Ralph hit, considering his relationship with barney. PB also mentioned he was a power and made when the books were closed IIRC

Re: Ralph Coppola
Why was he named boss six yrs after walking out of prison? Restrictions for Parole? Or LE confirmed it in an indictment of some sort in 2014. Seems he has had a say prior to 2014 no? I would imagine he used a series of front acting bosses and panels etcPogo The Clown wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 11:51 am
