All the reasons, it probably ultimately just boiled down to this, men in the life are greedy fucks who deep down have no honour and just want to line their pockets.
The powers that be probably just wanted his money and had the excuse to get it. End of story.

I’ve just finished rereading Andrew Didonato’s bio and it’s one of the better reads about ‘the life’. One anecdote probably does more to sum up the life perfectly: Andrew had $35k and needed another $5k to retain a top lawyer and avoid an 8yr sentence. He went to Nicky Corrozzo (his crew boss) and asked for a loan. He had made Nicky $100k’s by this stage and was by all accounts a tough guy and great earner, for years. Nicky, worth millions, told him to go fuck himself. Andrew got the 8yrs.

As Andrew says “loyalty flows from the bottom up, not the top down. That’s why so many rat and leave the life. Because the bosses demand loyalty and honour to them, but it’s a one way street when it’s time to go the other way.”
I’m paraphrasing but that’s close. And it says it all about the decline of modern day LCN (yes Wiseguy, I KNOW about the declining recruitment pool and Italian assimilation! 😋)

I agree it's a good book. Gives an interesting look into the Gambinos at the time, particularly the Corozzo crew.

Also really liked how he devotes a chapter to breaking down mob gambling.

Maybe we're looking at the end of this great thread which Pete posted, but in the end I want to say this....Sam "Mooney" Giancana was for real one of those most powerful and notorious n\bosses for which we always hear about and also read stories about. He was really Ricca's favorite underling, besides constantly receiving complaints from his old boss for his day to day decisions.

In addition, according to some of Riccas relatives, the old boss almost acted same as the actor in the Godfather III, meaning Don Altobelo, which again explains his alleged kindness towards his protege but still held a lot of venom which floated through his veins and buried a lot of mentors and members ....just my two cents

Since you're the only guy around here who lives there, I believe that you should do that. We can even donate some cash since we're all interested in his details, although I bet everything is going to be one empty "promise" but lets not rush to conclusions since first we gonna need to compare his own statements with the previous infos which we already have or we're about to since several of us around here requested the same files lol

Just so you guys know, Frank Jr is working on a book. Someone (not Frank) told me that Uncle Nick is participating. So he might be saving some things for the book.

What’s the premise of his book being that he already told his story?

Thanks buddy but I think it’s only 30 or 40 bucks for the tour I don’t mind paying it. From what I understand he does a q and a. If anyone has any questions besides info about the giancana hit which I’m already gonna ask, I would be happy to relay them and see what he says. Or maybe antillar could ask him about doing a q and a for the forum?

What was the other cop that giancana recruited? I believe he became a sheriff even. Wrote the book with sam jnr. Anyone read that?!

I use to think of sam as Chicago's Gotti but aftet reading this thread he seemed a lot more power full then previously thought.

Werent the cops even called off his house surveillance?

I have about 100 years worth of questions lol. The problem is all of the sudden this guy has the answer to the Giancana hit. Nobody knows right now if he is telling the truth. I've have lived in the Chicago suburbs all my life, so I might go on that tour , it's only 30 to 40 bucks. It would be interesting, but would it be facts or his own little scam. Maybe the guy is full of shit or maybe he has alot of great information. I would want you to ask him if it's possible that he misunderstood his dad and his dad meant Accardo ordered the hit, but didn't do the hit. Who else was involved. All the info of that night, that he has knowledge of. Is the case considered solved. Why is this just coming out now. Also I think with Frank Jr on the streets just doing his thing, I would believe that whether the Outfit is almost done with or bigger than we think it is, I just don't see current members giving a shit about getting revenge for Marcello and Lombardo and Frank Calabrese. First they are in a prison that they can't give orders and Frank SR is dead. I think the current members just want to earn and stay under the radar. It would be to big of news to kill Nick and Frank Jr Calabrese.

You just basically answered your own question, Frank. He ALREADY wrote a book that was published in 2011. So, when book sales and tours are slow, Frank Jr. will all of a sudden remember something BIG that his father told him and write another book about it. What's his new book going to about anyway? The Giancana killing? 5 years from now there will be another book about something he remembered that his Father told him about John DiFronzo. The guy is a professional con man and ex drug addict in my opinion.

If Antiliar is right regarding Jr publushing a new book with his uncle, I think that we might get another half-fictional project same as the one Giancana Jr and his uncle Chuck already accomplished

Michael Corbitt.
Giancana had many "friends" and possible made members in the police force such as Salvatore Moretti, who worked as Melrose Park policeman during the early 50's. You see, Moretti was one of six children who had grown up on Chicago’s West Side, including his identical twin brother Vincent who by 1951 also worked as Melrose Park policeman, the oldest one Lawrence was a deputy bailiff, and Michael who worked as a state’s attorney policeman. Sal was fired from the police force in 1953, while at the same time Thomas was fined $150 after a jury found him guilty of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, meaning he violently fought with the policemen before they arrested him on the complaint of a woman that he harassed, and in the end Michael Moretti, who with no particular reason shot three people, while leaving two dead. Even though the third wounded individual testified on trial that Mike Moretti was drunk as hell and started shooting at them on purpose, it turned out that the other policemen, who were at the scene when Moretti arrested his victims, have never been identified, thus never testified against their companion but still in the end he was sentenced to life in prison.

In addition, Sal Moretti was ordered to answer directly to Daddono, who in turn was his so-called crew boss and in 1957, he received a contract on one banker and land developer known as Leon Marcus and executed it perfectly. It seems that this hit was about to make Sal a made member but the problem was that he forgot to check the victim's pockets for any implicating records, such as the name of the boss himself, Sam Giancana. And that’s what happened. When the cops found some small papers with Giancana’s name on it, Moretti’s fate was sealed. On April 12, 1957, Salvatore Moretti’s strangled and bullet riddled body was found in a car trunk on a country road south of Plainfield, Will County. The coroner report said that Moretti had cuts and bruises all over his face which indicated that he was pistol whipped before being strangled and then shot twice in the chest and twice in the head. The interesting thing was that one bullet went through the lower lip and then angled up in the cranium, while the other bullet went through the right cheek, up between the eyes, and out the left front of the skull. The news fell hard over his twin brother Vincent, who in turn never forgot the death of his brother, nor the hatred towards Daddano, Giancana, Battaglia and Accardo. Well as a matter of fact, two decades later Vincent was one of the main individuals who pulled the job on Accardo's home and ended up dead with is throat slashed and body mutilated similar as his twin brother which again shows us that history often repeat itself in a similar fashion.
