I had no idea you were so young slim.
My apologies for being overly hard on you.
You are quite mature for someone quite young, you’ve been given quite a hard time at stages and instead of responding emotionally or tit for tat I’ve seen you walk away and defuse or deescalte situations. Well done. Good for you mate. 👍

A word of advice for a successful tenure here: lose the ‘definitives’. Ie the statements. Being certain. Couch your working in ‘I think’, ‘in my opinion’ ‘based on this info couldn’t we speculate..’ etc etc rather than Spata IS up and coming. So and so IS a rising star. Etc.
Everybody will respect your opinion, but when factual statements are made without base, the board gets testy.
Make that change and you’ll have a long, learned and interesting tenure here.

Best
Sonny.
Thank u for the advice. Well appreciated. And about rap,its not all about cash and hoes but whatevs since we’re from different generations and its hard to understand each other.

Damn buddy I didn't know you was so young! But nothing wrong with that either. We just grew up in a different world, I grew up with rap myself and I'm 38 so it shows you how each generation on here has changed over the years. Some of the older guys on the board wouldn't like it at all, then I like some of it and you like it all so you can see how each of us changed the later we grew up. I was a young teen once NWA, Dr. Dre, etc. got real big so I've seen it all with rap. We were the first ones that had to buy our shit at the store (CD's and cassettes) and then we were the first ones that had to be "over 16" to buy rap with the warning labels on them.

But yet if my Grandfather heard me listening to something like that, he probably would have beat my ass. He grew up in a time where they were taught to hate black people, it wasn't right but that was how they were raised.
If I didn't have my case coming up, I would like to come back with you gentlemen when this is over with and really lay the law down what is going on in this country.....

Well, speaking from a personal vantage point, I WOULD NOT say during those times they (meaning the general White Southerners) hated black people. Hate is a strong word. I would say it was more like they generally believed that black people were on a lower level of evolution and were not their equals. It was more in that way. They believed in segregation because they felt everybody knew their place and got along better that way.

I agree with Anastasia's points...

1. Legalized sports betting will have an impact but won't be an economic death knell for mob bookmaking; won't have the same impact that the state lottery did on the numbers racket.

2. Benefits to betting with the mob includes betting on credit which gives the serious gamblers ability to bet multiple games and settle up weekly; as opposed to putting up cash in person at a casino or having to use your credit card if you're using a legal outlet online. And no taxes.

3. Whatever effects legalized sports betting has could indirectly affect loansharking by less gamblers borrowing money.

One thing I don't necessarily agree with, however, is the idea that if the mob loses one money maker, they suddenly look to other previously untapped income sources. If there's money to be made somewhere, and they're able to capitalize on it, they're likely already doing it.

@slimshady

Out of curiosity... what piqued your interest in OC?

Ironically, a BIG part of it for me WAS rap. I heard so many names so many times like " Escobar", and "Gotti" , I finally was like, " Who exactly are these people ?"

Started doing a little reading, the rest is history......

Actually it wasn’t rap. Tbh i think its since im such a big movie fan. I watched goodfellas and The Godfather and then i just searched shit up and now hear i am. Plus my dad would always tell me stories bout how he knew wiseguys and my mom would always say how lcn ran her neighborhood. As a matter in fact my aunt’s friend one dated a persico a long time ago. OC rlly just interests me. Crime in general interests me.

Couldn’t it have the opposite affect? More people betting on sports leads to more people borrowing money.

Not sure. I would think the players who bet with the mob on credit are the more likely to borrow money from loansharks, as opposed to someone who takes the trouble to go to a casino with cash in hand to place a bet. But some of them might.

Well if your Making x and then it drops to z, you may need to find other income streams makes sense , really most of the scams are old just someone finds a new twist to it .

Also very ironic merlino going to prison for what is now legal , if Florida legalizes sports betting merlino should get immedlity released in my opinion .
