A longtime reputed mob associate of Raymond L.S. Patriarca is dead of natural causes, according to his attorney.

Frederick "Freddy" Carrozza was charged in 2013 by Rhode Island State Police with two felonies for an alleged real estate scheme that paid him $2 million for his Ocean Road home in Narragansett.

The dilapidated home was only worth about $900,000 when it sold in 2006 for $2.4 million. Carrozza had listed the home for sale in 2005 for $1.5 million but couldn't sell it.

The case against Carrozza dies with him, according to state police, but several co-conspirators, including Eugene O'Brien, continue to face charges that they lied on mortgage documents for the inflated sale price.

Carrozza once operated the Coin-O-Matic company next door to the then-headquarters of the late La Cosa Nostra boss in New England, Raymond L.S. Patriarca.

In the early 1990s, a gold-colored Ferrari was found in Carrozza's garage. The car belonged to fugitive Joe Mollicone, who at the time, was on the run as mastermind of an embezzlement plot behind the savings and loan scandal.

Coincidentally, Kenneth Mollicone, a relative, is an alleged co-conspirator in the Narragansett home sale.

Carrozza was 87 years old. His attorney, John Cicilline, confirmed his death to NBC 10.
