Like someone else said, they were very " Westside-ish", as far as their criminal modus operandi...

It seemed very timely..lol
Re: The Chicago Outfit’s Activities Today?
They would've forced or at least would've sent some guys to take care of the problem. Dont get me wrong but these guys were still quite powerful at the time, meaning a lot of high or low profile hits occurred during the 70's and 80s so Gotti or at least some of his two or three top guys would've ended up in some cornfield or in some barrel along the Florida coast. I know that Gotti or Gravano were also quite too much of a high profile targets at the time but so was Tony Spilotro or even Giancana a decade before that, meaning if they wanted to kill someone, they would've done it with no kind of obstaclesCabriniGreen wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 3:05 am On the Castellano thing, I don't know if it's a matter of what Chicago would or could do, more like they understood that high profile a hit is bad for the mob in GENERAL. It just galvanized law enforcement, put the mob in the spotlight all that....

They even killed Giancana in the mid 1970's in his own home in Oak Park while the Police were "supposedly" watching his house 24/7. I dont wanrt the guys around here to get me wrong but I dont think that Chicago ever cared on happened in NY after the Colombo hit, since theres one "overheard" convo between Ricca and Accardo that occurred during the early 70's which allegedly ended up with the sentence something like "Better them than us"

Re: The Chicago Outfit’s Activities Today?
Exactly. I think the only thing they even mildly cared about was staying on good terms with the Genovese Family on any Commission issues. So, if the Genovese Family disliked what Gotti and his cowboys did, then the Outfit would second it. Other than that, "better them than us". Re: The Chicago Outfit’s Activities Today?
The Outfit probably disapproved of the Castellano hit, for however much they even cared at that point, since they had their own problems at the time. It had no direct effect on them and, as has been said, their only indirect connection was their ties to the Genovese at the time. But the idea the Outfit circa 1986 is going to send hitmen to take out the two top Gambino guys is right out of fantasy land.

Re: The Chicago Outfit’s Activities Today?
Not trying to speak for Villain, but I believe he said that IF Gotti and Gravano had disrupted any of Chicago's business, he believes the Outfit had the capability in 1986 of killing those two with of course the approval and aid of the Genovese Family who hated Gotti anyway. It is just an opinion since it is hypothetical. The Genovese Family and the Outfit cooperating to kill Gotti and Gravano because of business is not a completely far fetched thing that could never have happened. Let's put it this way, stranger things have happened like Paul Castellano and Bilotti being killed without Commission approval or Giancana being killed in his own home while the Police were supposedly watching 24/7.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 4:10 pm The Outfit probably disapproved of the Castellano hit, for however much they even cared at that point, since they had their own problems at the time. HANG IT UP NICKY. ITS TIME TO GO HOME.
Re: The Chicago Outfit’s Activities Today?
I don't think the Outfit cared enough about the East Coast to warrant killing those guys. Yeah, they were upset but why bother if the Genovese were gonna handle it anyway?

Re: The Chicago Outfit’s Activities Today?
I think you missed Villain's point. Of course Chicago didn't care enough to step in against Gotti and Gravano. Why should they?
What villain was saying was HYPOTHETICALLY IF Gotti and Gravano disrupted some kind of Chicago's union or other business, THEN they certainly had the capability along with of course the approval and cooperation of the Genovese Family to kill Gotti and Gravano. It's all based upon a HYPOTHETICAL disruption of business, not on what really happened in 1985.

Re: The Chicago Outfit’s Activities Today?
I usually don't indulge in hypotheticals but, hypothetically speaking, it would likely be a case of the Outfit encouraging or throwing their vocal support behind the Genovese to take Gotti and Gravano out. Not sending their own hitmen 800 miles to New York (or even further to Florida) to do the job themselves. That's totally different than NY guys killing NY guys or Chicago guys killing Chicago guys.Confederate wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 4:32 pmNot trying to speak for Villain, but I believe he said that IF Gotti and Gravano had disrupted any of Chicago's business, he believes the Outfit had the capability in 1986 of killing those two with of course the approval and aid of the Genovese Family who hated Gotti anyway. Re: The Chicago Outfit’s Activities Today?
I hear what you're saying but we'll never know, LOL. The Mob had very inventive ways of killing people. Luciano sent 4 Jews posing as I.R.S. guys to kill Maranzano. Gallo had some black guy shoot Colombo, other mob hits have been guys sent in from another State or even another Country to do the Job. Anything was possible with those guys, at least at that time years ago, when they had real power.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 9:05 pmI usually don't indulge in hypotheticals but, hypothetically speaking, it would likely be a case of the Outfit encouraging or throwing their vocal support behind the Genovese to take Gotti and Gravano out.
