Any company connected to mafia figures will not get a license
They get around that all the time, though. Liquor licenses, etc.
Nobody cares about liquor licenses , That’s controlled by a corrupt state board in most cases , gambling license is a different animal , Show me a legal casino that is controlled by mob figures ? Hell harrahs lost the deal in Boston for have a Russian gangster doing construction in Vegas

Exactly why you legalize it as the Govt will have far more control about betting minimums , maximums and probably a bunch of other things then they do now and will actually have a revenue pool to chip in a few points for treatment.

It’s ludicrous today for the govt to have zero say on a $100b product yet carry all the costs to enforce it and get zero money out of it . We’re just dumb I guess

Gambling has been an accepted vice for 10k years across every ethnicity , region , age group and generally brings people together for a good time ( not always lol ). Legalize that shit, regulate that shit and provide the foundation for the USA to take over the global gambling market and turn a $100B into a $200B that employs millions. One day these idiots will get it as everybody breaks the law anyway via office Super Bowl, suicide pools , shit even Obama did March madness brackets and Warren Buffet insured them for $1B.

The mob still has card games, video poker machines, and the numbers racket too. But all these together only bring in a fraction that sports betting does.
The numbers racket for the Mob is dead and has been for many years. Only 7 states do not have a State Lottery. They are as follows:
1). Alabama
2). Alaska
3). Hawaii
4). Mississippi
5). Utah
6). Nevada
7). Wyoming

You're correct if you are talking about outside the New York/New Jersey area. However, up through the 2000's and into the 2010's there were quite a few numbers busts involving the NY families. It's only been in more recent years that those have noticeably dropped off. Not sure why. Possibly a generational thing.

Incidentally, the mob numbers racket offered some benefits, ie better odds and no taxes.
All roads lead to New York.

Legalized gambling does wonders for the native American community.

And hey, I think gambling should be legalized, I'm just saying these things aren't black and white, they're contentious for a reason. Gambling can have seriously detrimental effects to a community. Hence I cited the above.

The rest of the world thinks the states is completely fucked up on so many issues. You guys can buy an AR15 or open carry a Glock to a supermarket in many cases, yet cant throw a tenner on a NHF game. How the fuck does that work?

What does it matter if it is legal or not? Heroin is illegal and people are dying every day over that
Alcohol can certainly do the same and that is legal. Morality aside people should be able to do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt someone else. Thats my opinion anyway. Give me all my money I made in my check and then tax me hard on things like soda, cigarettes, and whatnot. a consumption tax.
I agree. Weed isnt as bad for you as cigarettes or alcohol but until recently that was looked at as the devil by a lot of people. Christ people used to drink whiskey and smoke cigs at their desk at work lol

North Carolina has a state run lottery.

If you were to localize gambling down to the municipal or state level you can bet there will be corruption going on just like the liquor licenses. The bigger casinos are harder because they attract more attention but if any old gambling den can get a license to take sports bets then it may be easier to corrupt. But who knows.

Hell no. Mississippi has casinos in Tunica and Biloxi. Also I think Vicksburg has one and there is an Indian casino near Philadelphia MS. We run football parlay cards during the season. Football boards every week, 10 bucks a square. Small time shit. One bookie in the area that I know of.

4.7 billion deal announced Sunday by one online betting giant buying another. Betting big on a "favorable" supreme court decision.
