I wonder if by taking this plea if they hit him with acRIVO they will use it as a predicate?

This was worth reading just for the part about Manna and Scarfo Jr. being pals in prison.
Yeah, especially when one is in Fairton and the other is on Schuylkill.

That was just part of the macho routine for the future, so he can say his lawyers battered him into accepting it. Worked out to be good negotiating though.

The judge rejected Merlino's introduction of the portion of the tapes where he told Rubeo that he quit the mob, on the basis that the comments were "self-serving".

And Rubeo's were....?

The standards were never the best and the brightest, and they don't pay for that. They're standard issue government employees. People assume they are special, but we fund unlimited time and resources for them, and change the laws and sentencing guidelines to make them look good, so that they can now do the job. It's no horrible reflection on them. It's a good job for them.

Coming out of law school, it was always a standing joke that the bottom of the class could always still get a job with the FBI or other government jobs except SEC, NLRB and federal judge clerkships, and a number did.

LOL. That was the high point of the Cohen raid. Now they're reduced to checking out his finances regarding taxi medallions, etc. The Trump part that they bullshitted the judge about is pretty much over. Even the Trump love child thing cratered after the ex of the doorman, paid by the Enquirer to come up with something, referenced his ranting about frequent sightings of Bigfoot in NY. Can't piss off the FBI or the CIA, as the Kennedys found out.

I’m not getting into the current politicization of the fbi. Not that I don’t have my opinion on it just that it’s not relevant to OC. To be working the genovese family as an FBI agent in NYC I assumed would have required at least a basic understanding of LCN. When an FBI agent testifies in court that joey Merlino is a genovese capo it really makes me stop and pause for thought. Did he genuinly think Merlino was a genovese capo operating in philly/Florida and by extension think the philly fam had been absorbed (like the Tampa family )? Had he not heard of Merlino before his investigation or researched the ample information about him during his investigation.? Or was it self serving to label him a genovese captain in court and if so how would it be? For me this is the most fascinating detail of this case. How is it possible the fbi would be so clueless or let an agent go into court so misinformed.

Forget about me. I was just ranting about anti-Trump tactics... But i do think politicization is the enemy of expertise and in the long run is a qualitative detriment to law enforcement.

Was he cross examined on this statement?

Agree with your top statement 100%. I don’t necessarily disagree about the anti trump stuff just don’t want to de rail thread and take the spotlight away from what I consider to be much more relevant to OC which we are here to talk about. BTW I used to be Crispin on real deal and porellos site.recognize a lot of usernames from RD and think it’s only fair people know who I am/was. Had some disagreements and agreements with some people here but to me it’s all water under the bridge. Happy to hear all opinions.

Ever heard of a 45 man racketeering case where every single one of the 45 defendants get the racketeering charges dropped and then have the case referred to as a "smashing success on paper"? Yeah, me neither! LOL
