They got off lightly. Perhaps the police wants to see how things will play out on the street now some important people are let loose. Rizzuto faction seems to be at full strenght now.

Aside from Rizzuto and Sollecito, who are their main guys.
So many killed in recent past. Have newer, younger guys
moved up and/or been made? Thanks, Jeff

Some of the senior guys have been killed, but the actual leaders remain and everyone from the so called round table is back on the streets for now.

It doesn't seem like they are able to regain control of the Montreal Mafia like how it was during the Rizzuto era but I think they are still strong enough to hold their ground.

The Sicilians are very much entrenched in Montreal and a close-nit group going back half a century which is why I believe they will not fall under the umbrella of another faction.

There are now several groups in Montreal and it remains to be seen whether they can co-exist or continue to settle scores. I expect the latter.

I also think the Bonannos still have a presence.

The city basically seems like a 1920-30s American mob stronghold with multiple groups vying for supremacy.

The recent bust in Canada and New York that showed once again there was still very much interaction between the mobsters, the induction ceremony held by the Bonanno in Canada of an inductee who was residing in Montreal and old Montagna allies and Bonanno affiliates who were reported to still be active in Montreal, namely the Arcuris and Tony Suzuki.

Besides the Bonanno capo there's no information who else attended.

Hey Lupara wasn't Vincenzo Morena actually living near Hamilton?

If I remember correctly it was reported there were 5 guys at the making ceremony Morena, Zummo and someone named John. The other 2 we don't know about. Most likely Morena was only one getting made.

Here is an interesting article that tells about all the technical problems that police had to face during the Magot operation and which in a ceertain way led to the acquitment of Rizzuto and Sollecito
