Farrell claimed to have been made by Al Capone. He did not reveal any further details about the ceremony or any lack thereof.
Thats interesting. Heres one doc which states that LaPorte was also probably made by Capone himself
I think that these informants just throw guesses out there, too. "LaPorte is a big shot who has been around a while, Capone must have made him, right?"
As for Farrell, the guy was on his death bed so who knows what his state of mind was. I doubt he was one of the original ten but he could have been made soon after the initial ten, as Villain stated.

LaPorte was probably equal to many other Mob Bosses of other Families around the Country (Outside of the New York 5) in my opinion. If his power base would have been on the west side of Chicago instead of the Far South, he would have been the top Boss of the Outfit at some point.
You're probably right and to tell you the truth he's described in many documents as one of the most important guys in the Outfit, with connections all around the Midwest and I also believe that during one period he also controlled the importation of narcotics for the Chicago faction and the rest of the Midwest families. I mean what do you expect?! Theres a picture of him with Capone himself lol

You might be right buddy, on both cases.

Does anyone know when Accardo was made?? It would seem like it would have been before Battaglia, possibly by Capone.
My personal belief is that Accardo and Capezio were both made by Capone and I also have to be honest (even though at the beginning I didnt believe in it much but now Im beginning to be suspicious about it) about one so-called "legend" that Battaglia was made the year (1930 or at least 1931) when he pulled off that robbery on the Mayor's wife or Big Bill Thompson's wife, Capone's long time ally. Story goes that Battaglia was brought before Capone and he was allegedly been forgiven and became a made guy. At first this sounds quite funny but if you look at Humphreys bio, you'll find out a Similar life story, meaning the Hump started as a big troublemaker and he was also allegedly brought in front of Capone and was later brought into his organization.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Laporte under Roberto and Emory at this time? I'm not saying he wasn't a power, but weren't the other 2 more powerful. It's definitely possible that they were all made in the original 10 and or before Capone went to prison.

I would say that if LaPorte was ever made by Capone it happened possibly before he went to prison. You're right about Roberto and Emery being above LaPorte at the time and I really dont know if they were two of the original ten since for me the so-called Robertos are the most mysterious faction of the Chicago Outfit for which I have to do a lot of research regarding their roots and history.

Frank Bompensiero is the source of this information. I guess you have to decide whether you feel he's in a position to know or not.
Thanks again man

Farrell began to share Intel in March 1967. He died about 8 months later in November. Hardly his deathbed.

What's your basis for saying that?
Farrell told the informant (who was probably himself, in all likelihood) that he was made by Capone and that he had been a member for more than 40 years. He didn't release any other information about his making, at least none that is readily available to me. He was five months away from dying of terminal cancer when the FBI received this information. Depending on how bad off you are, you could certainly consider someone to be on their deathbed in that situation -- figuratively, if not literally.

Obviously I was referring to LaPorte AFTER he took over for Emery which was sometime in the mid 1950's.
LaPorte was always Emery's right-hand man and he, meaning LaPorte was the main messenger or contact between Emery and Roberto in Italy. Sometimes Emery himself visited the deported boss since theres one famous picture of the two of them while being accompanied by Lucky Luciano. So I believe that LaPorte and Emery really brought the dope business for the Chicago Mob on another level and when Giancana came on the scene, he tried to take it on international level.
