If the jury already had the case then chances are they didn't even notice the mob guys at all. I'd say half that jury probably has never even heard of Merlino before this trial. People just don't know the names like they used to. Hell I couldn't tell you anyone by face other than Merlino and Ligambi.
If I didn't have my case coming up, I would like to come back with you gentlemen when this is over with and really lay the law down what is going on in this country.....

The longer they are out the more it means that they are discussing the evidence, at the least. Feds cases don't get 30 minute acquittals because it takes so long to wade through the damn instructions but oftentimes they do get quick two hour convictions.

@realmobtalk7

I spoke with Joey for a bit this morning. He was in great spirits and felt good... he believes he’s won and is confidant as he should be.
The way you talk, you just confuse him.

This will be an interesting verdict. I think the government did a poor job of presenting the case and directly linking him in the health care and gambling charges. But everyone else plead out and the shenanigans with the juror. Racketeering cases are historically pretty hard to beat with the rico laws which can be loosely defined in the court of law.

Most Mafia trials that are interesting have at least one murder,the fact that they indicted him with no charges of violence shows that they just got a hard on for him and are going to stay on him until they get him,whether it be this week or next year. If he makes it out of this one unscathed he should stay in Florida and retire or he will eventually get life.

From Fox 29: Jurors deliberate in Joey Merlino trial
On Wednesday, jurors deliberated for six hours and asked to replay 8 secretly recorded tapes. They also asked for the definition of conspiracy. The jurors are expected back at 9:30 a.m. Thursday

Reminds me of Al Capone. The G men couldn’t get him on the atrocities he committed or ordered, it was a flimsy tax evasion case. The only difference is that on a National Scale, Capone was feared and revered. Merlino is looked at as a horse jockey. His tenure is underwhelming at best.

Merlino appears to have access to high level New York guys, and they recognize him as a boss, your personal opinion doesn't seem to matter to the guys on the street today.
