Also, as we have seen from several other families thanks to B, JD, and others, the Outfit was not the only family to eschew certain elements from the ceremony or utilize a simplified version of one.
I don't think that's the only reason people think it started with aiuppa. Other reasons would be roemer who almost certainly had an informant that was made said there was no traditional ceremony and also things said by giancana and others of it being stupid or whatever. I don't know either way but all we know really are the two nick talked about, 83 and 88, the one in 89 that solly d was made at, and the ones mags discussed with fosco supposedly. We don't know of any for sure before 83
I didn't know there was a ceremony in 1988 and 89 just thought there was one. Who else was made then. Did Mags mention who was made??

DiForti, Scarpelli, Fratto, Chiaramonti, Pete DiFronzo in '88. Solly D is the only one from 1989 that we know of.

Magnafichi didn't name anyone.

My point was that the whole Cosa Nostra thing was there since the formation of the Outfit and they accepted it and transformed it in their own way, meaning the positions of their top leadership, the various ways of making or bringing a guy into the organization, and also giving the non-Italians a higher authority rather than the usual. The "must be Italian to get made" thing was always there and even Alex talked about it and he reffers to the made guys as "They" or "Them" and also said that he didnt have the permission to get made obviously because he wasnt Italian. After that he made a joke like he was the King of all Greeks but still he was always up there because of his skills, power and above all history, which was the most important thing for the Italian faction. Also for example we have Cerone saying something like "you see this guy didnt understand that we also have Pollacks, Jews and Greeks" who in turn was reffering to a non-Italian guy who escaped a meeting because he was allegedly afraid of the higher level Italians within Chicagos CN. So I personally believe that those two convos perfectly explain the Outfits structure at the time and what I previously stated

Wasn't Ferriola and Eldorado made together? I can't remember if it was said they had an actual making ceremony or not.

They were allegedly made together in 1956. It was a banquet type deal.

That's it, thanks Snakes. I always wondered if maybe Marino or Bellavia were made with Solly. But Marino was in on the Spilotro killings and I believe that it was only made men there. But I don't think Nick actually said they were all made, and he didn't know everyone there so we can't be sure.

Did magnafichi ever address his making anywhere? I never heard him even admit to being made though he didn't deny it either. The sun times interview the guy said you were a made member and he didn't deny that he was and then asked if he killed anyone which of course he said no which was probably true. He was never a tough guy

Wasn't Accardo in a senior advisor role until he moved in with his daughter? I know there was some info floating about that he was asked to give his okay on the Spilotro murders in 86. Also I remember reading the FBI took pictures of a meeting between Carlisi, Accardo and DiFronzo in 89, so I always assumed Accardo was consulted for important decision until the late 80's.

There was also a photo of Jimmy I delivering an envelope to Joe B at his house in the early 90's. I believe it was something to do with old money Accardo had that the Outfit was washing for him.

This would make sense that he was laundering the money as jimmy had a currency exchange right off Taylor street. When accardos house was raided by the Feds he had some bills so old they weren't even sure if it could still be used as legal currency. That does surprise me though that he would have a guy like jimmy I showing up at his house with an envelope. He's done so many bids he was the definition of heat

I think aiuppa stayed out of it for the most part while he was locked up. He handpicked carlisi to be the boss for a reason. I believe I read somewhere he tried to keep some level of control when first going in but then gave up on it and let the guys do their thing. He was pretty old at that point and was trying to get out early for a long time before they finally let him go so I'm sure he was trying to show that he was no longer involved. Who knows though according to magnafichi he was cerones eyes and ears while he was locked up so it's entirely possible aiuppa had someone keeping him in the loop as well
