Thats some good info Snakes and Calabrese's reference to "Johnny" or "Joey" is positively quite confusing. This reminds me when I started researching the Outfit regarding the old days, many members referred to Accardo as "Joe" and if the feds didn't explain on who were they referring to, than it was quite hard for me at first to make a conclusionSnakes wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 6:41 am I don't think Lombardo had a defined role. He was a very powerful guy who had a direct line to DiFronzo and Andriacchi and probably ran his crew through deputies like Cozzo and/or Vena with Spina as a go-between.
Pete also brings up a good point about DiFronzo and Andriacchi. Frank Sr. told his son on the prison tapes that Johnny "didn't even want it [the boss position]... he inherited it." Then he goes on to talk about how it was funny that he went away because he had all this way legit money but that he still ran things through Andriacchi when he got out (this would be 1993-1994). He also talks about how Andriacchi had beef with Monteleone because he felt he shouldn't be getting involved in West Side affairs (Cicero, Melrose Park, etc.). Some of the talks are confusing because "Johnny" and "Joey" are the names of probably the top four guys in the Outfit at the time (DiFronzo, Monteleone, Andriacchi, Lombardo) but there are a few subtle clues that let you know who Frank is specifically referring to.

Is it positive we know for sure that what Frank was telling Nick was golden or was he blowing smoke and trying to make himself look important and in the know? This is one thing I always try to remember when I'm researching things is what guys hear secondhand.

His info was probably on point. He had a lot of people on the street. Most of what he said went with what I thought

Do you know what date that convo was from? I was looking through the various wiretaps the other day but there's so many of calabrese sr I couldn't find those ones. I had been looking for that specifically because we had been discussing the leadership during that time frame. The ones between Mickey and jimmy marcello were also very good and gave a lot of background about tornabene position acting for Jimmy. It was obvious who was in charge based on what he was saying. I also thought it was interesting the way he talked about sarno and cautadella like they were gofers basically and then those guys were running things not much laterSnakes wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 6:41 am I don't think Lombardo had a defined role. Lol he called them Mutt and Jeff. I think Zizzo just couldn't accept the fact with Marcello in jail that they held more power. Even Marcello began to know what time of day it was, when he sent word to Zizzo to back off. Wasn't it reported that he had an argument with Tornabene that was seen on surveillance? Probably Tornabene was telling him to back off.Pete wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 9:31 amDo you know what date that convo was from? Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
I think Marcello actually liked Sarno and Cataudella, though. He called them "good kids." Zizzo was upset that they were getting a bigger cut out of the video poker machines than he was, too. Tornabene was pissed with (at?) Matassa in a meeting that Mickey Marcello was also a part of. Matassa was a former North Side guy who was with the Marcellos for a bit after that territory dried up.
Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
Isn't it unclear who ordered the Hatch hit. I read something about DiFronzo signing off on it not only about the trouble of the video poker. But also he was shaking down one of the Daddinno's. Then remembered he had the altercation with Marcello's brother and the German.
Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
Fosco said DiFronzo was behind it but he probably just stepped on too many toes when he came back. Think Feech LaManna from Sopranos. Also, you don't scream at and shove a guy like Frank Schweihs and get away with it.
Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
Speaking of Matassa, before his current indictment, wasn't his name comming up about current administration. Something like temporarily replaced Marco as Consigliere??Snakes wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 11:36 am I think Marcello actually liked Sarno and Cataudella, though. He called them "good kids." Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
Yeah, but the whole "consigliere" thing has bugged me. Unless it's something they just started using in recent years. Matassa is a guy that's been around a while and knows a lot of guys. I know some people look at him like a joke (probably because of his weight) but the guy has/had some pull. I guess that's how he held that position ("consigliere" or whatever it was), albeit temporarily.
Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
Yes wasn't it advisor the term the Outfit used. I believe Lombardo was an advisor to DiFronzo, but most charts always use Consigliere. Not clear if advisor also advised the operations boss and the underboss equivalent.Snakes wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 1:17 pm Yeah, but the whole "consigliere" thing has bugged me. Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
I don't think the Outfit used a name for it. It may have been one guy or more than one. They used terms like "adviser" or "consigliere" for their own internal reference.

I think Snakes has explained the terminology of Chicago now about 10 different times. I don't see how else he or anyone else could explain it any further.Frank wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 3:12 pmYes wasn't it advisor the term the Outfit used. According to what he has stated several times, the Outfit didn't use normal terminology.
There was a #1 and a #2 along with Advisors. (NO SET NUMBER). Those guys (Advisors) were semi retired guys who were in the background. There could have been at any time anywhere from 1 guy to several guys. I'm sure they advised the #1 & #2 IN ADDITION to advising the crew bosses of their respective crews. Not rocket science. LOL

Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
Well, it's confusing either way, so don't be too harsh. It's a difficult organization to figure out.
Re: Chicago Outfit Lineage Chart 1928-2017
Yes I wondered about this too. The final straw for the hatch was him pushing Mickey marcello and frank schweihs so I always assumed that came from jimmy marcello. The theory fosco laid out would make sense but I always thought it came from jimmyFrank wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 12:12 pm Isn't it unclear who ordered the Hatch hit.
