here is why I think it won't effect that much:

1) credit. a local bookie gives you a line of credit. you do not have to post up. most will work with you if you lose more than you can pay.
2) travel. no one wants to drive an hour to the casino to bet and drive back home. they want to login from their home computer and play or call on the phone.

#1 is biggest issue. i remember being in vegas and still calling home to bet.

No tax either. Although I'm not exactly sure how it works in casinos with taxes.

There is no tax when you win a bet on a football game in a casino where bookmaking is legal.

You can but sometimes your bank or whatever blocks the payment because they flag it as resembling a fraudulent transaction.

Depositing is the easy part, getting your money is way harder. Bitcoin is the quickest and easiest route for both.

Most of it from what I can tell. It's pretty rare that we see a sports betting bust of significant size in the Northeast that isn't tied to the mob. It's one market the LCN has been successful in retaining its share of.

Are you kidding? Alabama has LOTS of illegal bookmaking, especially in Birmingham. I bet there is more illegal bookmaking PER CAPITA in Alabama than in Chicago. Alabama just doesn't have any Mafia Family. It is all small independent operations. Good old Confederate boys.

One think I feel compelled to point out. Marijuana is not a "legal" protected right anywhere. It is DE-CRIMINALIZED in a few states. To point out the distinction, it has been unanimous in the courts that a state's decriminalization has no effect on employer policies. You can smoke dope 28 days before a random or pre-hire drug test, according to the courts in states that have "legalized" marijuana, and be fired or banned from employment.

Back to the topic, I think legalized sports betting, which will be made easier and easier to do over time, will very much hurt the mob and hasten its demise. You have less crime when you make everything legal.

Did you ever try contacting your bank and pre-authorizing a card for international transactions? This same thing happened to me recently. A company had some issues with thier bank, didn't want to process Thier credit cards anymore. So they switched to a company based in China, to do the credit transactions, (is there anything they don't make or do in China?...lol) but my bank flagged it as "fraudulent", or appearing to be an attempt of fraud, some shit.

I was instructed to have my card "pre-authorized" for international transactions. I dunno, just wondering.....


What do you guys think of an outfit like Pinnacle Sports?

Question for the East Coasters....

Has anyone out that way ever combined sports betting with machines? Like video poker but with bets on sports? Just something I thought of.......

The mob controls I would guess to say about 75-85% of sportsbooking in Jersey, if I had to take a guess- it’s hard to fly under the radar here as in independent bookie, there’s a certain point were u get too big and certain people hear about you. Also if you want to be an independent book and utilize a pay per head agent site for records keeping and having customers place their action, that’s like advertising to those guys that you’re out there operating.

Nail on the head. Top two reasons that Casino Sports Betting wont push the mob out. Infact you might even find mob bookies in the casino extending credit to the gambling junkies.!
