Not sure about him. Aiuppa may have been the top guy through his sentence until he died or Carlisi may have taken over when he was in prison. Either way, Aiuppa was the top guy from his release until he died.

Operating bosses were, to the best of my knowledge:

Giancana
Battaglia
Cerone
Alderisio (possibly, leaning towards "no")
Aiuppa
Carlisi
DiFronzo
Monteleone
Tornabene
Marcello
Sarno
DeLaurentis

When did Monteleone die? Are you saying that Tornabebe was Operating Boss after Monteleone died and right before Marcello?

Did it state that in your research or is it only your opinion? Just asking.

He died in 2001.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Tornabene gets way overhyped, i don't have him as street boss at any given point.

The Last Supper photo was a ceremony for Lombardo. They were making him Street Boss.

DiFronzo having dinner with Panozzo, Vena, Zizzo, and the Hollingsheads was mentioned in a Burnstein article highlighting Jeff Hollingshead.

Nice, Who's file is that from? I recall on the marcello wiretaps he bitches about tornabene saying he was only supposed to take care of things until he got home now he's gotta piece of everything and no one made him anything extra, just take care of it. I don't know if he was saying tornabene wasn't made boss just acting for him or what the deal was. Tornabene did something to over step not sure if it was clear what that was on the tapes but you could tell jimmy was the real boss and tornabene was acting under marcellos direction. Also interesting those tapes he talks about Mutt and Jeff which is sarno and cataudella. The way he talks about them is like they were gofers. Obviously they moved up fairly quick after that so not sure what changed there. Maybe lack of guys to take the seat

SB has a CCC labeling Tornabene the Underboss in early 2000's. Not arguing that just mentioning it.
