I think John Matassa was inducted in 1988 also. Where did the news about DiFronzo having Alzheimers and that Joe Addriacchi was the new top boss grooming Delaurentis for the job come from originally. Was it Burnstein. I thought I first seen it on the Joe Fosco show or what ever it's called.

Oh, one more point @ Confederate

I totally get what you are saying, that the STATE OF ILLINOIS controls the regulation of the machines.

But I would kinda counter, and Chicagoans understand this, the STATE is corrupt. And the city. Like Rauner is the governor right now, but he's an outsider, it took him getting elected for him to figure out money bought him the election, but it didn't buy POWER. Madigan still rules. Blago didn't get this either.... He wasn't savvy...

Also I found it interesting, someone posted its actually like 40 plus thousand machines, I'd bet a lot of em aren't legal....
The one in my grocer does it for me. IT CANT BE LEGAL, cause it's ILLEGAL to have em there. It has to be bars and other establishments with proper licenses. ( They gotta be sure no one underage is gambling, yada, yada...)

That's what was originally believed but Calabrese testified that he was made with him in 1983. Either the CI gave wrong information on Matassa being made in the late eighties or Matassa was present in a different capacity, perhaps representing the North Side for Solano.

Just an FYI: Ninety miles away from Chicago, here in Milwaukee, I see and play on video poker and/or reel machines in several bars and two dedicated restaurants, including Pitch's Restaurant (in the bar area), owned and ran by Peter Picciuro, the purported boss of the (pretty much) defunct Balistrieri family. When you win on a machine, you notify the manager who either pays you in cash right there or gives you a printout to come back the next day when they have the cash in hand.

They are illegal as can be (Wisconsin Statute 945.01, and a felony to be an owner/operator), but have existed since at least 1988 when I first started visiting and then living here in MKE.
Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted.

Don't forget Jimmy Marcello was happy about video poker machines being legalized and said to him "First us then them". I believe they planned on skimming the machines. I also believe they did and still are. He was not the least bit worried about the government taking over. NO ONE EVER IS IN ILLINOIS.

The news about DiFronzo having dementia (Alzheimers is one type of dementia) was from Fosco and people he knows. He believes that DiFronzo would never allow himself to take a selfie with him had he been in his right mind, and that makes a lot of sense. That Andriacchi took over his position as chairman came from his sources. I'm not aware of anyone mentioning Andriacchi grooming DeLaurentis, but I might have been one of the first to conclude that DeLaurentis is the current top boss. Me personally, I'm not so sure that Andriacchi isn't totally out of the Outfit altogether, considering his age, wealth, and desire not to get caught and die in prison. In my personal opinion, both DiFronzo and Andriacchi are probably out and DeLaurentis is the top guy.

Thanks buddy. I would think he is retired at this point with his health issues and age. He's about 85. Just a little younger than no nose.

Someone made a good point, it is a gross exaggeration to say they control ALL the video gambling. It's impossible to prove. But it's seriously humurous when you say " but the State controls it, it's legal!!".

I'm saying it's all about the paperwork. Who's names are on those corporate charters, those llcs, who's connected to what Alderman, or politician, where the kickbacks going. You need to look places like THESE, stop looking for mobsters in track suits in social clubs and street corners, I mean, was that ever really the Chicago mob anyway? And I'm really asking here..

@ strocos

Good find, but you guys still kinda don't get it. The idea that you can just waltz into the state and get into something like video gambling with no heavy city and state connections is just, forgive me, naive.

Look you could have a mob connected businessman like Richard Simon who buys his way OUT of using the unions. Then you can have a guy Like Coli who USES the unions as weapons for extortion.

Y'all looking for social clubs in the city with gangsters on the corners. These guys been in the burbs for forever, where they got crazy clout with law enforcement. No ones making any gambling cases, ITS NOT LIKE NEW YORK. That shit is not going to get you a promotion, or any headlines. Any wonder the only arrest I remember recently are the COUPLE of incidents where there was actual violence, the Pannozo robberies, and the other guy, Carparelli? Is that his name?

Snakes wrote: Sat Oct 21, 2017 1:55 pm Yeah, 1988 is the last documented one. I think that's what you meant. Sal DeLaurentis was mentioned as being made in 1989 but he's the only name I have from that year.
YEah I meant 1988, Keeping it small ball is probably smart

so now that the outfit is not really killing people anymore, I wonder if they lifted that restriction to became a member if they are in fact looking ot induct new guys

Only family which can kick off a 12 page thread in 48hrs.

When nothing's happened.

Barney would be jealous.
Man, you aint kidding. I never realized how many fans and wishful supporters the Outfit has on these threads! They have quite a fan club almost as large as the Chicago Bears. LOL
