So is it confirmed the the Genovese Capo called Pete Dolce/Delsi is DeFeo? I looked at census records and cannot find him having a Ralph as a brother but the informant could be mistaken.

- Calogero "Lilo" DiCarlo (Lower East Side)
- Jimmy "Clam" Eppolito Sr
- Joseph Zingaro (Bronx/Westchester)
- Angelo "Cockeyed Angie" Mascia (Bronx/Westchester)

Thanks for the additions. I have Mascia taking over for Sedetto in the 70s and Zingaro taking over for Paul Gambino in 1974? I also thought the Eppolito Crew was absorbed by the Castellano Crew by this time? Didn't Garafalo take over for DiCarlo by this time. And wasn't there confusion that lilo DiCarlo and Lilo Garafalo were the same person? Thanks.

Pogo/Antiliar/whomever, should we start a Five Families Circa 1930-1932 here or in a new thread? I actually think it won't be complicated at all, complete is another matter.

I can tell this is going to take a fair amount of time, especially when it comes to compiling specific location. In the meantime I have to create an entire map of NYC since I can't find any to my liking. I'd really like to avoid creating Staten Island and Long Island will be impossible east of LI Sound.

I think JD raised suspicion on those two being the same guy but was it confirmed? Same crew anyway. Perhaps it´s better to put Garofalo as the skipper of that crew and scratch DiCarlo.
Mascia was identified by an informant as being a capo in 1963. The informant said that he had "20 guys under him". If he was an official captain or just acting for somebody else, I don´t know. Later on, Mascia is identified by informants as a button guy. In early 1976, Mascia is again identified as a captain.
Zingaro was listed by the FBI as a captain already in 1960 and I think the Eppolito crew was merged with Castellano´s later, in the late 1960s. J. Eppolito listed as a captain by the FBI in 1968 and 1969 and not earlier than that.

Loiacono did take over later. But in the 1960s, he was acting for Greco (sporadically) and in the 1970s he and LaPadura took terms acting for Greco (also sporadically; when Greco was sick or down in Florida.)
There you have it, never printed before.

Thanks for the info. So if Mascia and Zingaro were already Capos by this time whose crew did they take over and who ended up taking over for Sedotto and Paul Gambino if they were seperate crews?

Also in the Gotti book Capeci mentions how the Fatico Crew was based in Brooklyn (East New York if I remember right) in the 60s but moved their operations to Queens when the demographics changed. Sounded like Fatico was a Capo during the 60s but then again Capeci is not always accurate with the early history.

To Pogo / HK:

Do you guys believe 1965 is a good year to cover for NYC? For this to work we'll need quite a bit of specific locations down to the street/neighborhood within the boroughs. Maybe some point in the late 70's may be better in terms of obtaining everyone's HQ's and perhaps even some Social Clubs. Thoughts?

Because Christie did a Cleveland 1965 chart. Might as well do one for NY.

To be fair, I believe I suggested it to you via pm so the blame falls on me. Now I wonder if that year was the wise choice. Kind of a lackluster year.

I agree with both Rick and yourself and would like to make one for 1932. I could perhaps make one for 1900-1910's (covering roughtly 2 decades) which is much more my area so trust me, I could make that one count. Any eras post 1930 I need to rely on others for the information. From the 25 years after Valachi book I can obtain the addresses for everyone in the mid 1980's. That wouldn't take long and could fall in either the Castellano or Gotti era. Just something to think about.

In Mascia´s file, the Sedotto brothers are mentioned a lot. But it doesn´t say they were part of same crew specifically. Still, I personally believe they were and that Mascia was the early captain for a while, before being demoted, and later in the 1970s, was given the crew back when Sedotto stepped down.

Regarding Paul Gambino, I really don´t know. Possibly his crew was disbanded or merged with some other crew. Do we know the names of some of his crew members?

I guess it´s a possibility Fatico was a captain already early on but I haven´t seen the evidence for it. Read somewhere (but can´t remember exactly where) that Fatico moved his HQ to Queens in 1972. That´s around the time when he was identified as a captain.

It's on my other computer which is still down, hurricane setback. Pretty much all the templates I've made over the past two years are on there and I need to get it repaired. If the computer is unrepairable, I can extract the hard drive. The Current Line Up as well as the much requested Colombo lineage will get done. It's a question of when not if.

I'm currently experimenting with maps, which I would like to incorporate more in several forms, including 3d as well as getting accustomed to my "back up" Mac. Not being able to right-click has been for me the keyboard equivalent of losing a thumb.

1932 would be great. Then one of the 1950s at their ultimate peak followed by a 1980s one. I wondered what was so special about 1965.

I'd say 1931, 1957 and 1985, all special years.
