So here's an open question about Genovese family operating on Patriarca's turf. As far as I know there were at least 2 major factions, one founded in Springfield, led by Francesco Scibelli and later by Adolfo Bruno. And the other one is in Worcester, which was led by Frank Iaconi since prohibition days. There also a rumors about Iaconi's conflict with Patriarca over vending machines and gambling in Worcester. Iaconi's crew was taken over by Carlo Mastrototaro.
Couple of open questions here, is there any detail info on these crews, how they operated, ect.
Did it worked like in NJ faction of Genoveses? As I understood Springfield, Mass faction had at least 2 active crews.
How did they induct new members? I doubt that the entire crew travelled to NYC each time to have new fellas made.
And what happened to those factions after the events of 00's? Angelo Bruno was murdered and at least 3 members/associates of his crew defected and became rats. Carlo Mastrototaro died of natural causes in 2009.

Re: Genovese's crews in Massachusetts
My 2 cents...that was never Patriarca territory. Historically the Genovese NJ faction made up of several crews had a top guy like Moretti or Catena. Im not sure if the Massachusetts crews had a similar situation or not. I'd lean towards not. About their inductions one can look at the ceremony of Arilotta who was from the Springfield crew. He was made in the Bronx by Artie Nigro he was stripped down and pretty much alone from what I can remember. Details fuzzy on that. My guess is that under normal circumstances either a couple NY guys would travel out to MA to conduct ceremony or a few of the MA guys would head to NY. From last I read that Springfield crew was still getting hit with cases so looks like they still have things going on out there.Sonny Beeps wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2017 2:17 am So here's an open question about Genovese family operating on Patriarca's turf. Re: Genovese's crews in Massachusetts
The 2 families had a agreement anything from worcester and weat west to the genovese family . Same thing in Connecticut they used the Connecticut river as the border .
Springfield is probably about the same distance from NY as it is boston or providence so it was probably open territory in the old days and west side probably got there first

Here the info I found on turf disputes between Iaconi (Mastrototaro's predecessor) and Patriarca, over rackets in Worcester (hometown of Raymond L.S.)

Incidentally, if I'm not mistaken, it seems Springfield falls under the NY-based Ianniello crew now.
All roads lead to New York.
