Ontario Mobster Angelo Musitano shot dead

Post by Ed »

It has been 20 years to the month since Johnny (Pops) Papalia was whacked with a gunshot to the head in broad daylight in Hamilton.

Revenge was promised.

Now, two decades later, one of the men originally charged with the execution of the gangster known as “The Enforcer” has met the same fate in a brazen afternoon shooting in the quiet Hamilton suburb of Waterdown.

It was not quiet at around 4 p.m. when eight gun shots rang out.

Angelo Musitano, 41, is reported to be the victim as he stood in a driveway on 14 Chesapeake Dr.

Hamilton Police will update the media Wednesday but sources say Musitano was found “vital signs absent” at the scene after being struck by a number of bullets.

Emergency Services people were unsuccessful in attempts to save him.

“This is a mob hit, in my opinion, no question,” said crime specialist Ross McLean, a former Toronto Police officer. “Detectives from many services will compare and share notes to try to determine who was behind it.”

He said they will start by looking back to the May 31, 1997 contract killing of Papalia in the parking lot next to his Galaxy Vending building.

“In these feuds and disputes mobsters and Mafia members are like elephants, they have long memories,” said McLean. “When there is a case like this police will follow the money and there is lots of it moving around with today’s Mafia. It’s in the tens of millions.”

For Papalia’s brazen shooting Angelo Musitano, then 21, and his brother Pat were both charged with first-degree murder but later made a deal with the crown to plead guilty to conspiracy to kill Niagara Mafia figure Carmen Barillaro.

Both served 10-year prison sentences but have faced threats ever since 1997.

Just last year, a vehicle belonging to Pat exploded. And now Angelo was hit with a flurry of bullets by an apparent drive-by shooter.

“Clearly this is a war between families over history and over money,” said McLean.

Revenge completed?

The article was written by Toronto Sun reporter Joe Warmington, I cut that off by accident.

He certainly had it coming for a long time. It's amazing how active and alive Canadian scene is. The U.S. is so boring comparatively, you're reduced to trying to figure out who wore spats to a 1931 meeting.

More on the story

A fatal gangland-style hit targeting notorious mobster Angelo Musitano may be the start of a new crime war in Hamilton.

The Spectator has confirmed Musitano, whose 40th birthday would have been on Sunday, was gunned down in the driveway of his Waterdown home Tuesday at about 4 p.m. Neighbours say they heard multiple shots fired.

A source not authorized to speak on the record said Angelo — Ang — a member of one of Hamilton's most infamous crime families was shot and killed. He died at the scene. The source also acknowledged that Ang's older brother Pasquale — Pat — who is 49, is likely very concerned about his own safety.

"The war is on," said the source, who has knowledge of the crime but is not authorized to speak officially about the case, which is being handled by the homicide unit.

So this guy was 19/20 when took part in the Papalia hit? Seems pretty young to be given such a high profile hit.

His older brother ordered the hit. Neither of them did partake in it. The hitman was Ken Murdock, who later snitched on them.

I would be suprised if there's anything left from the Buffalo family's Papalia crew to have anything to do with this murder.

Dont worry about Buffalo. They're still there. Massively.

And they'll be leaving bodies in the streets over this.

[snip]
We shouldn't be surprised if Murdock is questioned in relation to yesterday's murder of Angelo Musitano.

I've seen various outlets billing the Musitano's as 'Ndrangheta, is that accurate?
