You're right... And yet it looks as if he will dodge another bullet. It's unreal.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2017 4:00 pm Merlino is defined by one trait, greed.
Insulation for higher levels/Admin members is there for a reason. Merlino should've had, at a minimum, a soldier intermediary.
A boss getting caught directly in a racket is unforgivable and Merlino should know better.
Greed put his blinders on.

Re: Gangland - 4/13/17
Hollywood gangster. He aint Cosa Nostra by a longshot. Fuckin instagram acct. White Rolls etc. He could have it made chillin in Boca collecting envelopes from Philly living the good life and die in his bed as boss. But he likes the attention and worse...he is a degenerate gambler who doesn't pay up ! Who do bookies talk about on the wire tap? The guy with the large bets that don't pay up? Everyone talks about that guy. Why? Because everyone is effected by that guy. Everyone answers to someone. And everyone is complaining about that guy. Just collect the money. I cant. Fuck you cant why? Its Joey Merlino! I bet he gambles away 70% of the money coming in from Philly and that's why he has to get his hands dirty making money on the side. He needs that cash! Why else are you working with Associates from ANOTHER family you don't know when you are the boss. Its one thing to be involved in coke deals with a guy you made into your own family. But come on. This aint rocket science what he is doing. The guy cant help himself and who is gonna tell him what to do ? He is the boss. right ?

The best one was when he was Acting Boss he personally put two Associates on the street to sell some stolen ceiling fans out of a van for 20 bucks a pop. A score is a score.

Yeah. Minor correction Merlino was the UnderBoss at the time. Still he was effectively the Boss since Natale was spending most of his time in Jersey and was on parole. Here is a good article on their activities. It shows how Merlino was personally knee deep in moving swag during the late 90s. Not surprisingly it made into his indictment.

According to the affidavit signed by FBI agent Ralph J. Saturno, federal authorities first learned of the mob's involvement in the stolen property ring in the summer of 1997 when Previte was approached by Merlino, Abbruzzi and Frangipani about buying electric ceiling fans.
Some of the fans, part of a stolen shipment that had been designated for a Builders Square store in Cherry Hill, were being sold by Abbruzzi and Frangipani from a "blue van located near the intersection of Tenth and Carpenter Streets," according to the affidavit.
The fans, which retailed for from $29 to $69 apiece, were being sold for $20. Previte, according to the affidavit, offered to take 100. Merlino said that because he was "a friend of his" he would only have to pay $15 for each fan.

What is the deal with the Jester/Mummer's Parade... is that a racket like the San Gennaro festival in NYC? The costumes are pretty bizarre. I noticed they had a sign for it outside of their new club...
