Zwillman's Newark (photos)

Not sure if this would go into Mugshots since it's buildings, but anyway, took these a couple weeks ago:

K&S Deli King is the site of the Casablanca club, where there was a heroin raid in May of 1950. The club was opened by Zwillman and was one of his hangouts.

The Blue Mirror is the location of the old Blue Mirror, a well known Zwillman hangout up the street from the Riviera Hotel. I did not get a chance to dig into city records to see if the business name has survived all this time.

The Riviera Hotel was Zwillman's main base of operations. It's clientele these days is less "posh" though definitely still gangster, as the front desk person, seated behind a wall of bullet proof glass, told me.

Great photos. It's easy for me to look at these and imagine the scenery during Zwillmans days.
