My dear old buddy "Nino" (phillynick 100% and maybe Chucky know who I'm talking about, I'm not giving his actual first and last) knew the Ciancaglinis very well, especially Mike when they were young. He remembers the dad Chickie is a very strict father who was a "South Philly guy through and through." He could be "vicious" but nice to his family and close friends. My conversations with the Ninooz regarding Chickie lead to conclude this guy released is the closest thing to Sopranos' Feech Lamanna as they come. I havn't spoken to Nino in a few years but he knew the Ciancaglini family pretty well. Went to the same school as Mike who was a few years ahead of him.
This is one of the few times I relay second hand info, so take it or leave it, I can't back any of it up with sources and I'm recalling phone conversations from a few years ago.

Has anyone been able to find anything on Pagano history in the family? Evidently he was associated with the family before he moved to Florida and must have known Stanfa before. He rose pretty quick after returning to Philly being made, promoted to Capo and becoming in effect Stanfa's top guy along with Frank Martines all in a few months.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

From what I have read the extent of his involvement with Stanfa is based primarily on him tooting his own horn on a tape. A public records search turned up zilch on him in Florida prior to 93. I did come across this for those that haven't seen it, some of the lawyers involved in his trial making fun of the Philly mob.
I remember something about Pagano being a small time associate of the Ciancaglini/DelGiorno crew back in the 1980's who was basically inactive until Stanfa came back. I don't know if Stanfa knew him or if someone just put him in touch since he was desperate to build a new regime.
Pagano still kept his home in Florida during the Stanfa years and spent chunks of time down there. He tried to use his time in Florida as an alibi, too. I'm curious if he had any rackets down there during the 80's or if he hung with the Scarfo people when they were in town. I don't know of any rackets he had in FL during the Stanfa years.
Before Stanfa was arrested, he had a meeting with Martines and Pagano where he told them they were the #2 and #3 guys in the family and that if he (Stanfa) got arrested, they would run things.

Does anyone know if the Ron Mazzone who got clipped in 1993 for skimming the street tax was of any relation to Steve and Sonny Mazzone? I wouldn't think so but you never know with how many of these guy's are related (if only distantly) in South Philly.

They might be related, but not closely to my knowledge.
Steve Mazzone is one of the only big players from that group who doesn't seem to have had relatives that were already involved in the life. Made a name for himself completely on his own.
Did Angelina or Lancelotti have any relatives involved?

Good point bringing those two up...
I've heard something about Lancelotti having an uncle who was an associate but can't confirm it. In Angelina's case, I think it was purely because of how close he was to Joey Merlino.

That seems to be the case, according to all the knowledgeable Philly posters he's a dipshit and was only skipper due to kissing Merlino's arse.
